I got a call this morning from Danielle at Sacre Coeur....  She wanted to know if I was still interested to get a sleeve from dr.Atlas....   I said: well of course!!!  So she asked me some questions and gave an appointment on the 26th of May at 9 o'clock in the morning for a meeting with the nutritionist....   I'm so happy right now, I'm floating on a cloud....   Finally, after 28 months of waiting, some good news....   Now , I can't wait for the next month to pass quickly!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi there Sarah, congrats on your panni.

I have a date to have mine done with my umbilical hernia repair on June the 6 th in Madison, WI.

If there any advice and tips to share, I sure could use it. What should I pack for the hospital etc.

Thanks.

Thanks everyone for all your input. I was also thinking of doing the shake for breakfast since I'm not too good eating first thing in the morning. Even now I do have breakfast but only when I get to work. We shall see when the time comes...

Brenda I'd love that phone number if you can dig it up because I think that eventually I'd like to see a bariatric Nut.

Thanks again everybody and have a great evening!

Hugs!

Yeah I find that too. By the time you eat your protein you can't eat veggies. Trying to get all the protein in is a challenge. so usually protein snack. I find having a shake in the morning makes it much easier to ge your protein in.  Then you don't have to worry as much during the day.  I also keep track on sparkpeople.com  they have an excellent breakdown and it really helps.  I am not going back to the nut. You definately need a Barartic Nut.  I fired mine. I knew more than her and besides she was very rude.  I can do it myself.  I think I am more intelegent than that.  I live on the Ontario Quebec border so they want me to go to Quebec.  At this point not going to happen.  Doris QC.

That is awesome news Ada....I did use a private Nut and they are located on Green Avenue. I will dig out my info. They are a clinic that Dr. Christou uses and they do specialize in Bariatric preop and postop services. To be honest I only seen her twice as I felt that I really didn't need them earlier on. I do work with a Nut at the hospital and she has been very curious with Bariatric surgery and has been there for me if I have questions on certain foods or interpretation of labels. She has given me good tricks. I would say that you would probably need her more after a year or so rather than early on. Your stomach can only eat so much and there is a good variety of meal plans on various bariatric surgeons site that you get a good idea of what to eat and when to eat it. Dr. Christou's site has their meal plans online www.weightlosssurgery.ca. It will give you a guideline. As for breakfast. I had a protein drink for a the first year postop. I still have a hard time eating solids but I can eat oatmeal with lactose free milk and I add a scoop of soy protein. I put that in a thermos and bring it to work and take baby spoonfuls during the morning. It is equivalent to a cup and it sustains me until lunch. I can eat a solid lunch and supper but mornings are still tough for me. In the begining I ate alot of eggs, omelets, baked fritta etc. You'll have to experiement Ada and see how your tummy reacts to different foods. The toughest part is getting veggies in post op. By the time you eat protein there is little room for anything else. I try really hard to get my fruits in as snacks but I don't get enough veggies. My labs are good so I am not worried at this point. I do take my vits though. Hope this helps!

I weighed in at 148lbs but I am not sure if it is accurate as I didn't weigh myself on my usual scale. Yesterday was my 46th BDay and Easter so my hubby took me for brunch and we had friends over for a Raclette! I managed to eat three portions with genova salami, two slices and about one glass of wine. Topped off with a carrot cake (small portion). We lingered with the meal over a two hour period. I was actually amazed at how much I actually ate.....I took my time, chewed well and talked alot . It was a great evening. Today I am off from work and it is a gorgeous day so I have been doing alot of outside chores. I am back on track today food wise so we'll see next week the verdict of my indulgeance. Have a great week everyone!
