i got my first surgery date at about 3 months from my group meeting. I think the current wait time might be a bit longer because there is some issue with scheduling surgeries at Lachine and that is backing it up a bit. I'm sure if you call into the office and ask they will be able to give you an idea. I dont think we have a 3 yr wait here in quebec - especially if you go in with a referral (that's what i had).

I cant recall the exact number he told me, but it was in the range of 40-46 and they said it was over-sewn tight. And trust me, that is plenty of restriction even 7 months out. I feel bad for the people who get smaller ones ... other than increased risk of complications early out ... it must be really hard to eat a balanced meal. even at 7 months out, i struggle with vegetables and getting enough fiber. 2-3 brocoli flowerets or a few baby carrots added to my meal and i'm over-full. I can do 1/3 of a sm pita bread, or 1/4 bagel ... any more and its uncomfortable. leafy salad are out of the question most days because i end up not being able to meet my protein goals if i have one.
but remember, even with what i've said above ... the size really doesnt matter. it's what and how you learn to eat in those first few months that make the difference. I rarely eat to the point where i'm stuffed (salads are the only real exception) ... i pre-measure and weigh everything and have learned to be satisfied rather than full.
Great question! I know his standard bougie size for a DS is a 60 french which is a little on the large side but curious to know from the sleevers how large their bougie is
I was just wondering what bougie size dr. Court uses for his sleeves. Also, do you know if he uses the same size for a sleeve only as he would for a ds?
Thanks!
(Fyi: i have my orientation on november 29!
I faxed them my referral June 10 2013 and got a call this past thursday for an orientation day at the end of november. From what i gather, it'll be another 6-7 months til surgery, if surgery availabilities continue as they are now.
Good luck!
I e-mailed my completed application form and doctor's referral to the Royal Vic back in July. They sent me a confirmation reply saying they got it. Since then, nothing. I've read other posts here from members going through other hospitals that they had to wait up to 3 years, but is that just for the operation, or all the other pre-op stuff? I understand that depending on one's condition the wait times for the surgery can vary, but how long before they even contact you to just interview you and start the long slow chain moving?
WOW starlightlu, you are doing amazing also , only 44lbs to go!!! you guys are a great inspiration, congrats!

shucks! was thinking of you and your upcoming surgery....anyhow, a 2 wk delay is not all bad i guess. Good luck!
