Hi guys,
I want to get on a waiting list and I don't really know how and where.
I found the website from the Sacre-Coeur Hospital and applied there, but that was in January and I am still waiting to get a call and see a doctor. I contacted them a month ago, and they said they are contacting people who applied in July 2012, so my turn will be sometime in the summer 2014. The problem is that, after seeing a doctor I will still have to wait 3-4 more years.
I read here that somebody applied in January 2013 and got a surgery date for November 2013. Was that a very bad case who got on the fast track, or there is a way to get that happening for me too?
Quebec forum is indeed very dead, especially compared to Ontario. I suspect it's partially because the sight is mostly English so some might not be able to navigate it.
It's tough because there are very few active that have been through it with RAMQ. Food in general is a lot cheaper in the states, and they have *tons* of sugar free stuff. I really hate sweeteners so it's tough, but I find once you get used to a sugarless life, milk/cream can make things sweet enough.
I've been told there is no pre-op diet for me. I hope it will be ok. I'm trying to keep healthy, but it's pretty tempting to eat stuff I know I won't be able to have later.
Yeah I have all the support I need :), I'm so happy your hubby is in board and helping u out :)... I'm looking into buying those sugarless syrups I've heard... But can only find them online and the shipping is expensive lol , I'll be going to Plattsburgh in a couple of weeks and they have a better variety of things that they do here... I find that the quebec forum sucks lol but the Ontario one is very lively.... But their process is do different than ours... R u doing the shake diet yet?
I'm very lucky not to ever have been a soda drinker, but I do love bubbly water!
At least they're being supportive. I know I will struggle, my husband got me a new ice cream machine to make sugarless protein ice cream. I'm guessing it will help me a lot.
lol poor hubby lol... Yeah it's super hard especially since we're not a "healthy" family all of us are morbid obese but I'm the only one interested in really changing :) but I'm ok with that , I made the choice to change my lifestyle without the pressure of anyone and I wouldn't pressure them. My house still has Doritos , Tim hortons lol and even pizza :-O lol but I know what I want and those things will not get me there, I have influenced them in positive ways, there hasn't been any soft drinks for more than 6 months at home and we were BIG drinkers lol btw I'm in Sorel .
I'm supposed to have the operation at sacre cœur. I live in Gatineau.
Perhaps ordering online will be easier for you if your in a small town?
I can't imagine living with my sisters while trying to do this, the house would always be full of bad choices.
my husband will be hard enough, he eats the worst foods but always stays under 60kg. I feel bad for him sometimes because he can't keep weight on, especially if he gets sick. He's agreed to eat chips away from me and brush his teeth after, so yay.
I now live around 1h30 from Montreal in a small town... I'm 6 days and counting for my surgery and had my blood works 2 weeks ago so 3 weeks b4 surgery, I'm with hopital sacre cœur but having my surgery at the private clinic in rockland :), I'm not too stressed about Xmas, I'm single no kids plus I live with my 3 sisters , 1 nephew and Mom lol... Got great support :), from where r u?
Oh, I thought you were in Montreal! I know how you feel about the surgery! I still have 3 weeks but I wish I had more information from the surgeons office. I'm not even sure they'll get my pre-op results in time. Plus added stress of getting a Christmas party sorted and christmas ready for the kids! If they do get my results, and I do have the operation as scheduled, then I might not even make it home for Christmas.
Just to have to keep looking at the positives :)
Thank you so very much, wish I still lived in Montreal :)... The closer my surgery gets the less prepared I feel lol...
Hey,
I've looked around for you, I think your best bet for protein powder would be Fitness/bodybuilders shops where you could pick up lots of samples. Once you find a couple you like I'd buy enough to get you through 2-3 weeks and look online for better prices, unless they gave you amazing service and you want to support your local shop. They might also price match :) That's what I plan to do anyways.
I've ordered some 'NOW Whey protein isolate" off of amazon.com -4.5kg for $120.00, I bet I'll hate it, but if I do i'll be able to cook it into something later.
Either order online or go to your nearest shop with some in stock:
Walmart has some ( http://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/body-fortress-whey-isolate-chocolate-2lb/6000101671809 )
Pharmaprix ( http://www1.pharmaprix.ca/fr/search?query=protein )
Online purchases only (I believe):
Amazon.ca ( http://www.amazon.ca/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=whey+isolate&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Awhey+isolate )
Vitamart ( http://www.vitamart.ca/natural-whey-protein-isolate )
