I've gotta say my heart has sunk reading this discussion about the wait times. I only sent off my referral application last week. Right now the thought of having to endure being this heavy for another year or more has me really bummed, and scared. I hope they have some sort of triage system in place in the Public system, to determine who can wait and who needs to have it sooner.

you can try to speed it up by calling the office and asking if there is a questionnaire you can pick up, or an information session soon that you can attend.  might not save a ton of time, but a few weeks maybe.  You have to do these both before you meet with the doctor for the first time and decide on surgery type.  The wait passes pretty quickly, at least for me.  Might even be able to meet with a nutritionist there and get started early on your journey ... that might be helpful if you havent met with one before.
