Help me prepare, please
Submitted this on the main forum, but haven't gotten any bites yet; can you guys help me?
i am 1 days pre-op and trying to get all my ducks in a row (mmmmmm...... duck, guess that will be a while)
1) I just finished prepping meals to get my family (3 young kids and dh) through until next Monday (my rny is this tuesday). Should I prepare more meals. Some friends have offered to make me dinner; should I take them up on it or will I be ok to throw stuff together (quick fyi; my family has a slew of allergies and food issues so getting help with food is like swallowing a HUGE pill for me)
2) how soon post op (presuming everything is textbook a-ok) were you up to returning to work. I know the gov't will give up to 5-6 weeks medical leave but I just started a new job (they knew I would be taking some time off before I accepted the position, although I hadn't received my date yet) as a school cook, and with only a month of school left I feel like the more time I take off the more challenging it will be in the new year, I only work about 2-3 hours per day, but it is mostly on my feet. Will I be able to work 1 week post op, theoretically?
Ok - thanks for the help and adivce y'all
Hi, How young are your children. Is there a spouse that can help?
As for my experience, i had a ds and have 2 young children. I am very fortunate because my husband took the whole month off from work to help out. If you don't have anyone to help out I would get the help offerred from others. Saying everything goes textbook as it was for me, you should feel much better in 2-3 wks. For me it was in the 2nd week and i had a 6 hr surgery. If you work a couple of hours a day, i seriously think you can be back in the 3rd week. Ask your doctor just in case.
Good luck and try to be the most positive as possible (it really is the deal breaker)
