Stricture...

NOT fun!! I am 5 weeks out. Liquids, yogurt, oatmeal, soup go down fine. Cheese, meats, eggs forget it. It gets to caught in my pouch. I try to burp and all I get is THICK frothy saliva, that eventually makes me puke.

Last week when I went to the surgeon, I was told that if this continues they will need to go down my throat with a camera and balloon to stretch my stoma. I have been drinking boost for probably 2-3 meals, after it was recommended by the dietitian. The dietician is very worried that I am not getting even near the protein levels I need...

Has this happened to anyone else?

I'm sory to hear that. Hang in there, don't give up. I am certain that this is a bump in the road.

P.S. I can't believe you already lost 42 lbs!!!!!!!!!

Sending you positive vibes.

oh no, i'm sorry to hear this .. hopefully they can clear it up soon!  so this happened at 5 weeks?  geez, i wonder what brought this on.

I guess it's good that you can get the boost down, better than nothing.  I find it gross myself, too much oil taste for me.  but it has nutrients in it at least, though 15gx3 isnt really enough protein plus comes with a lot of sugars.

no luck on the whey shakes eh?  I've been ordering my About time mocha mint from http://www.lowcarbcanada.ca/ if you cant find a place, this one has cheap shipping 8$ per order, free if over 100$ order.   I put 1.5 scoops in 1.25 cup skim milk with ice.  47g protein.

@starlighlu ..... Yes  43 pounds... I do consider the 17 post op weight as well kiss. I think I'm on the right track with the weight loss because justpete has his surgery the day after mine and he lost 46.

@Just Pete .. I'm getting better now without the stoma stretch. Now it only happens if I drink to soon after a meal. So I am hyper vigilant not to do that anymore. I think it was reacting like that because I was too full. My stomach just seems to be healing slower then others, But I'm getting there. The Diabetic boost is not a problem for me because I do not dump. I am now drinking 1 in the AM with 2 scoops of beneprotein to make sure I get enough thought my day.

The grocery store has become an adventure. Finding new foods that is high in protein that I can eat.

Hi vero, just curious... how much weight did you lose per-op (on the optifast)?

Also glad to hear things are getting better.

I lost 17 on optifast... but I was quite strict not to stray except maybe a couple of bites during the second week.

my 46 pounds includes, 10 before pre-op diet, 16 during pre-op diet, and 20 after surgery.   (so you are doing better than me i think! esp since i started higher).  Feeling like the WL slowing down a lot since i started pureed and whole foods.  bit discouraged after having lost just 6 pounds in 2 weeks of pureed foods.  not sure why less, calories arent that different.  oh well, gotta keep it up anyway.

glad to hear you are doing better and your stomach is behaving!
