yes i'm going to give it another day or 2 ... but they make me feel sick. I think it's the canola oil or presevatives in them. it's a bit annoying that we arent allowed fat of any kind, yet there is canola oil in them, and quite a bit!
This is the first test of many following WLS, you can do this, just set your mind to it! I'm sure many will agree having WLS is challanging... I remember when I first had my surgery, lots of vets would say things like, it won't always be that way, and you'll have to deal with your inner demons, and that you'll be able to eat more eventually ect.. I didn't believe, them, why would I? I knew my body, right.. I figured I'd never want to eat sweets again, and that this is my new life, and it's just going to happen.. trust me when I say, you have to work at it every day, the sleeve as you will hear mentioned again and again is JUST A TOOL, you actually have to do the work... so start now with the Optifast, it's the first hurdle. You can do it, you just have to put your mind to it and the rest will follow!! :)
Good luck guys, we're keeping the loosers bench nice and warm! ;)
Funny you should mention it just being a tool...Like we all have, I have done countless amounts of diets including slimfast shakes. My big worry was that I wouldn't be able to stick to this for 2 weeks, or I would cheat so much that I wouldn't lose and they would refuse to operate. But one thing this last week has taught me is that I have alllllot more self control then I give myself credit for. I went to the movies tonight. My friend bought popcorn and a drink. I brought cucumber and baby carrots in a ziploc. I swear I didn't even take one from him. I wasn't even tempted. I just looked at the menu and said i cant eat any of this and left it at that.
Thanks for the words of encouragement !!!

things are a bit better today on day 2. I tried adding some berry MIO to my vanilla optifast just now and it really helped with the taste. later i'll try some pomegranite in the chocolate and see how that goes. What has really helped is making a simple vegetable soup. I used a can of campbell's beef bouillon and some frozen mixed veg+half can of tomato. taste is not super, but it really perks be up just the same. There is a a bit of fat and carb in the boullion, but less than 1g in a can, and i only eat 1/4 of a can each time. I think that is ok. couldn't find any soup stock that didn't have sugars, carbs or fats .... since that is basically what soup stock is! plus salt of course.
Hey Pete, The way to make the broth fat free is to warm it up and put it in the fridge for 6-8 hours let say, and the fat will rise to the top and will be solid and white. Take a spoon and skim it off the top. I wouldn't worry about carbs if I were you, ALL veggies have carbs. I would stay away from sugar though. An opinion is if the can stuff has sugar(unless its 1g), use fresh instead. Probably wont taste as good, but hey it only 2 weeks of hell, right?
