Deep breaths!
OMG!
so.. I'm sitting at work.. and my cell starts to vibe.... "Unknown number" ....
It's the hospital.. I 1/2 thought they were calling to cancel - I'm not going to lie!
They called to tell me to be at admissions tomorrow at 7am! 7 AM!!! I THINK it might actually happen this time.
I just want to thank you all for your incredible support, I NEVER thought deciding to have WLS would introduce me to such and incredible bunch or super supportive people! I REALLY appreciate all the help and advise you have giving me!
I especially want to Thank Ada, you have been nothing but sweet to me, and I can't wait to join you on the losers bench!
Here's to ROCKING our sleeves!
I'll update as soon as I feel up to it!! :) xo

I'm back!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I survived.. It wasn't exactly how I thought it would be... I was quite nervous the morning of, especially when they took me up the the 6th floor.. I keep singing in my head "I CAME TO WIN, TO FIGHT, TO CONCUR, TO STRIVE" over and over, and that really seemed to help keep me grounded!
I woke up in recovery, and they seemed to keep me there for a while, they didn't have a room for me.. I was suppose to be in semi-private but ended up in a ward.. which was fine.. but seemed to take forever! They would NOT let me get up and walk.. or drink anything until I had a scan.. Which they then wanted me to GULP down liquide while laying on my back... that I gave a TON of resistance on... Finally at like 6 pm, it was like they wanted me out, so they brought me a tray with: Coffee, tea, jello, 2 fruit juices from concentrate and a tall glass of ice water... if you have ready the first day diet... those are pretty much all on the no-no list. WTF? They didn't let me wal****il THIS MORNING! So I was a little frustrated! But now I'm home and resting.. I feel good.. a little tender, a little sore and still have a bit of "gas" issues.. but other than that.. I'm surviving!
Thanks for all your support! xox

Glad to hear you are home!
The toughest thing for me also was them not letting me get up...I was practically begging them but they made me wait until the next morning. I never had a scan...Dr.Garneau decided not to do it...don't know why but...his decision.
Did they boot you out the same day?
They brought me broth, jello and a Boost drink so a little different from your "meal".
You're home now...just keep sipping...broth with Beneprotein helped me. The protein drinks too. Walk around to help let go of the gas and try and rest as much as possible.
If you need anything let me know.
Hugs,
Ada
Ada!
It was soo weird, no, I felt terrible yesterday so opted to stay another night, believe it or not, I still had the support hose on this morning! I had to beg them to take them off. I would push the button and 45 minutes before anyone would come!
So far it's been a tiny bit of water - will work on it more tomorrow and the juice made into popsicles thanks to you! ;) xo

hello,I had Dr Garneau as well, the only reaso i walked that night after surgery is because i needed to go to the washroom and refused to use a bed pan,but literaly with 2 nurses helped me to the washroom and right back to bed and those annoying socks back on,my meel was the next morning boost a jello and water,i did not do a scan only a quick xray, and the day of surgery my 2 friends barbara and lindsay came to visit me,i thought i scared them because i was in pain crying,(the onky reason is because i was on a lot of pain medication from my brain condition, and the resident thought he did not read my file right and it was a mistake so nothing was helping, until they called the doctor and had it changed)I was afraid i scaredeven my mom but i felt much better after the right medication was given, also dr garneau was amazing i wasalways nauseatedand hard to eat to we had a barium test done in the following weekswich showed dr garneau made my stomach small but all was fine.i am so happy i found this site its great to have support from those understanding whatsgoing on,
Hey Barbara... Welcome back! Congratulations on getting through the surgery part - It's really real now right? lol
That's pretty crazy about the drinks they brought you, and the ward and not letting you walk. I'm glad you are sharing this so I can be better prepared. It seems like pretty poor care actually, but the important thing is that you are recovering well and that there were no complications. How is it for pain? When do you go back for a follow up appointment? Can't wait to hear all about your weight loss now. :)
Take good care,
Elena

Hi Elena!
Thanks! It was alittle special.. to say the least.. definitely do your reading before hand.. so you know what you should do / can have.. I brought my little food guide and actually showed it to the intern, he said it was the 1st time he had seen it! IMAGINE?!??!
Pain.. managable.. I took the drugs while in the hospital.. but have not filled the Rx.. I wasn't however prepared for the 21 days of injections in my belly! (Blood thinners)
My follow up it Aug 22nd... (~1 month)
:)
