  Morning all ,

I'm a 16 year Canadian Forces member who  has chosen to go ahead with WLS, after multipible deployments in Afghan, Dubai UAE and Haiti I'm finally in a static posting and am ready to make this change in my life. I'm wondering if any pre or post op Mil mbrs can share there experence and there timeframe.

I'm seriously considering self pay.

Any help would be great

Cheers

You should also post your message on the Ontario forum, as it would reach more people.  This Quebec forum is pretty quiet.

Good luck.

Thanks Cloudless!

Funny there's not much chatter in the que forum. I'm acually thinking of doing self pay with Dr Gagner in the Belle province!

Hi,

Well if you are on a schedule of sorts self pay would be the way to go. Otherwise you're in for quite a wait. Good luck to you and keep us posted!

Hi, hope u are doing well, i am a CF member,  and they (the CF) are paying for my VSG surgery, so if u tried everything go ask your DR. i am getting the surgery in Quebec in a little less than 2 months,i also know of another guy that got the lapband paid if u have anymore question feel free !!

First off thank you for your response, it's amazing to know i[m not the only CF member struggling with there weight.

I have been approved for surgery thru the CF, my MO, base surgeon and last the internal specialist have found me to be a perfect candidate , Here's where things get foggy for me. I'm not sure how things proceed from this point. Do we as mbrs get a say in what type of surgery we want? I believe DS is the best choice for me but would regrettably settle for RNY if possible. What was the time-frame for you from referral to surgery? is there any way to speed things up ?

Did you have any input into what time-frame you wanted surgery? Did you get to pick your surgeon ?I suspect military Blue cross is paying for everything and not prov of Que?

Sorry I'm full of questions and excited to hear of a fellow CF mbr going down the same path

All the best

Patrick Keith
