Rockland MD
I am having surgary with Dr Denis at (was supose to be Rockland MD) but now has changed to Sacre Coeur because the Gouverment retracted thier contract with Rockland MD :(
Its been kinda rough since then. I keep hearing things in the papers that the gouverment is suing Rockland.. and keep seeing Dr Denis doing all these Media projects, makes me think that this waiting period is going to be even moooore drawn out :(
I try to call his secretary (Martine) and the answering machine says something to the tune of """If you are calling about your surgary date.. dont call us we'll call you.""" I find the whole thing so heartless.. I mean I have to let my employer know approxamantly when I will need to be OFF for what.. 2 weeks.
sorry I needed a place to vent.
bascally the anticipation is KILLING ME!! I hate waiting HATE HATE HATE IT!!!
I am now looking and being operated in what they told me once was June.. now they are saying.. at least 2 years from the orignal date i saw the dr which was October 2010.. so October 2012.. thats not June.. I haven't taken vacation in 2 years, I am trying to save up as much vacation time to take 4 weeks off after.
Thanks for hearing me vent ;)

Ahhh the lovely waiting game. It's just brutal, isn't it? Vent away, we understand. I think there are a lot of pre-ops on this forum in the same boat. Despite big announcements that Quebec is going to do more surgeries, it seems to be going slower than ever. There's a great video that talks about Quebec's failing system for bariatric surgery. Hopefully 2 years is really the wait time for you with Dr. Denis. I'm on the wait list with Dr. Atlas and his wait time now is 3 years! I've been on the list since Sept 2009, and I haven't heard a peep from them regarding pre-op testing, nutritional counselling, info session...nothing. I've speak with Martine every few months just to check in, but she just says that yes, I'm on the list, but the wait time is looong. Just no operating time for the surgeons, plus losing Rockland, and a huge waiting list. Ontario seems to be a bit better with 12-16 months wait time. Almost makes you consider moving provinces. I've heard that maritime provinces are worse off than Quebec...with 5 years plus of wait time. It's pretty crazy.
Keep us updated on your progress. Good luck,
Elena

Hey Lindsay:
I agree with your frustrations. I believe Dr. Denis initially told me 18 months. I was disappointed with that time, but accepted it because this is definately something that is needed & I am anxious for.
I should be having the surgery this month..... but it looks like the 18 months will be pushed to maybe 24. I am so hoping that when I reach 24, it isn't moved again.
I haven't heard anything from the office, so this is quite frustrating and of course disheartening.
AM so anxious but am keeping my chin up.
May the summer zoom by for you and October will be here before you know it.
take care Lindsay.
