Getting a Revision (Band to Sleeve)

Bonjour a tous! Hello all!

I am going for my consulation in Montreal with Dr Garneau in September to remove my LapBand and have a gastric sleeve. I am very very excited since the band has been VERy challenging and rather painful. I work with a female who has recently had the sleeve procedure and I am so excited to see her progress!

Im looking for support and someone I can bombard with questions and leave my poor co worker alone (Thanks Kessey!!!).

Welcome to the board! Dr. Garneau has been really good to a couple of us and you will not regret this decision. The sleeve is a life-time commitment and it is the right choice for you. I think you are one of the firsts on our board to go through with a revision so I'm excited to know how it's done and how Dr. Garneau deals with it. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are all here to help and support one another.

Thanks Derek!  I have been talking with Kessey about it often. She is the one who gave me Dr Garneau's name.

Im a little nervous about the revision itself but not the sleeve specifically...the band has been rough to say the least.

Well if the sleeve goes in as smoothly as it did for Kess and I, I'm sure Garneau will do a marvelous job with you as well. Did you ask the secretary if Garneau had already done a revision from band to sleeve before. I bet it isn't too complicated but I'm no doctor so I don't know for sure. LOL

Welcome to the club.  I am also on the list for a revision.  I've had the lap bad since March 2009 with little success and I saw Dr. Garneau in May.  He's the one that suggested the sleeve vs any other surgery.   He told me that he is no longer doing lap band because it's not a successful tool for weight loss.  Have been told that the wait list is 18 months (although have a feeling it might be more).  

There are plenty VSG'ers here so ask your questions away!
