October 6th it is
Hello dear OH friends,
So, after much thinking and fretting and doubting and questionning, I finally decided to take the plunge and go the private route for my VSG. Even though I've already been on the waiting list at Sacré-Coeur for 9 months, I just can't afford, for my health and peace of mind, to wait another 6-12 months, especially since we all know that this could easily stretch into a much longer wait. The funny thing is, it took me almost a year to make this decision and the last months I could hardly think of anything else, so consummed was I with it. But now that the die has been cast, it feels totally anticlimatic. It even took me a whole week after the date was confirmed with my surgeon before I decided to write this note. It’s really weird! Oh, btw, my surgeon is Michel Gagner and it will be done at the Rockland Centre. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know. I’m sure I’ll have more to say as the date gets closer. And you can be sure I will be turning to you for moral support as well as answers to what will probably be gazillions of questions! Monica

Yayyyyyyyyyyyy!!! Congrats Monica! From what I remember reading on the DS forums about Gagner who was in NY at the time, he is an amazing surgeon. Sometimes we just have to take the bull by the horns and just do it. I'm glad you took the decision and it will be the best decision for you. Kessey just had her surgery done yesterday at the Rockland and it went perfectly. So much, that she was sent back to her hotel, not hospital last night. Anyways, as the date gets closer you will get more and more anxious but this is it! I'm so happy for you. I will move my shrinking ass over on the bench for you! Sooo excited!

Wow, Monica, that's huge!! It's going to be a major change in your life for the better, so why wait? I'll let you know right away that the first 48 hours were really hard for me, but now, one week post-op, I feel pretty much normal, except that I find it hard to eat and I get tired more easily.
You are doing something great for yourself and it will be worth it.

You did take the right decision and are definitely in good hands with Dr Gagner. You may feeel a bit "iffy" momentarily but the benefits of WLS will proove you right!

Congrats Monica! I had my surgery at the Rockland clinic and beleive me I was very well treated. The whole staff makes you feel quite at ease. I worked myself up pretty good as well before surgery and when I had my date unexcpetedly I went on with it cause otherwise I would of drove myself nuts about the idea of the surgery.
After all, I realized it was really not what I had worried about. Everything went great, I am now 3 day post-op and I get energy here and there, but the most important thing is to listen to your body when it says it is tired and take the time to rest...
Good luck Monica and if you have questions dont hesitate to ask!
