Is DS covered in Quebec?

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering if someone could help me out here. I'm trying to determine whether Quebec covers not just the RNY but also the DS surgery as a first WLS? I'm interested in putting together a case for it's coverage in Ontario and am looking for info from other provinces. You can post info here or private msg me.

Hi Pat!

Welcome to this board! Yes indeed, DS is covered by RAMQ as first wls in Québec (for Quebec residents). Most DSs are performed at Hopital Laval in Quebec city. Montreal area surgeons seem to prefer sleeves, bands or plicature.

I researched this topic a few years ago and didn't find much...And it seems that nothing new got published since then...Misinformation is far more readily available (!)
