Doctors that judge based on weight.
Hi everybody,
I came across this article and thought I'd share...I've come across such doctors and still do. Just last week when I went for an ultra-sound.
Unfortunately not much we can do but try to find compassionate doctors but the best thing is if they not be so critical and biased based on weight because by doing so they may miss a very important diagnosis while harping on something that all us obese people are already aware of.
We know our weight...we know what we look like...we already know!!!
If they keep throwing it in our faces it doesn't open our eyes more...it closes us up and keeps us from seeking help that we may need and in turn cause greater harm. These are my two cents...let me know what you think:

Hope you are all having a fantastic week!!

This was the case for me when I was at my heaviest. I refused to go to the dentist because they made such a fuss over my size and their chair... not to mention going to the "lady doctor". They obviously weren't trained in tact, nor bedside manner... I left both places crying and hadn't been back to one until I lost a huge amount of weight.
My family doctor thought that by being stern and throwing my weight in my face would make me change it... it only made me change family doctors.

OMG I almost forgot the incident I had at an imaging center. Down in San Antonio I had to have images taken of my back injury after a car accident. So, the doctor sent me to a specialized office where all they do are x-rays, mris, etc... Anyway. The nurse announced to me in front of an entire waiting room full of people that they wouldn't be able to help me because the table for x-rays only held people who weighed up to 350 and she didnt want to break the table. she then informed me... louder so all could hear... that the only place that would have the type of technology needed to x ray someone who weighed 570-ish pounds (my weight at the time) was at Sea World!!!
I kid you not I stood there looking at her with my mouth open!!! I promptly turned, walked out and called the place asking for the director or manager of the facility. I was so furious I had to sit in the parking lot crying and shaking in anger. I felt a little better in knowing that woman was fired immediately- however the cruelty in her words and the look she had given me when she said them will never be forgotten.
Some people don't care who they hurt... no matter what their profession is.

That's awful Sarah...worse than what's happened to me but they all leave scars.
I have a pre-op apt. tomorrow for a biopsy I'm having done (finally) next week and I'm anxious to see how this apt. will go...they're suppose to do a full physical, an ECG, and other stuff...we'll see and I'll let you know.
Bye for now,
Ada
