Hey everyone,

well I havent been able to check the forum in a while and as I was looking at your posts I realized how great you are all doing! It is nice to see all your beautiful inspiring faces!

I think the last time I was on here was in December, I have had several things going on on my side...

I see Derek is close to Surgery date! Wooohooo thats so awesome! To see all the great progress already is just amazing, way to go Derek!

As for me, well I have'nt got the call yet, and due to a few health issues that came my way this winter; my doctor thinks that if I get the call shortly to pospone the surgery :( ... But I am ok with that, I keep positive, things always happen for a reason right?

I had this question though, I think I had told some of you about my friend Caro who got the VSG in June 2010? Well she was doing awesome and managed to loose approximatly 100pds, however she felt a bit too comfortable and has gained nearly 25 pounds back... I really want her to stick to being healthy and she is going the wrong path, I've explained to her the importance of her following an healthy eating habbit as surgery does'nt cure it all but is there to help big time! Any suggestion from any of you that I could pass on to her? I do not want her to fail at this, I think going through surgery is already a big thing and she is already considering going for the bypass, :( ....

Cheers all! :)

Hi Kessey and welcome back!
Thanks for the support for surgery. I'm only 13 days away.

As for your friend, she needs to find a place for her to get support. Whether it be here on OH, a bi-weekly meeting with post-op'ers or seeing a shrink. I know it's not easy but we must stay focused on our goal at the end of the line. 100 pounds gone is something to be proud of but gaining 25 pounds with a VSG, she must be really trying hard to mess it up for her. That is totally and ridiculously unhealthy.

Hi there and welcome back....nice to see your smiling face
As for your friend....if it is unhealthy eating habits that are settling in, RNY will not help in the long run either. Regain happens not matter what tool you have if you don't follow the rules! She definately needs support and to research on the successful habits of postop success stories.
As for yourself, I hope your medical issues will resolve themselves. I also had to postpone surgery due to an unforeseen illness but was very grateful when I got the green light! My life has definately changed for the better. Regular exercising is still my biggest challenge but I keep plugging at it.
