OOPSIE ROLLS RECIPE

Hi everyone and hope that you are all having a fantastic weekend. I was a bit bored and started researching good recipes for post-op and I came across this "bread substitue". They are raving about it on another site. Used to make sandwiches instead of bread. This is the recipe:

    Oopsie Rolls

    3 large eggs
    1 packet of Splenda
    1 dash salt
    1 pinch cream of tartar
    3 ounces cream cheese

Preheat oven to 300 degrees.

Separate the eggs and add Splenda, salt, and cream cheese to the yolks. Use a mixer to combine the ingredients together.

In a separate bowl, whip egg whites and cream of tartar until stiff (if you're using the same mixer, mix the whites first and then the yolk mixture).

Using a spatula, gradually fold the egg yolk mixture into the white mixture, being careful not to break down the whites.

Spray a cookie sheet with non-stick spray and spoon the mixture onto the sheet, making 6 mounds. Flatten each mound slightly.

Bake about 30 minutes (You want them slightly softer, not crumbly). Let cool on the sheet for a few minutes, and then remove to a rack and allow them to cool. Store them in a bread sack or a ziplock bag to keep them from drying out.

Makes 6 @ about 85 calories a piece, >1 carb per.

Hi Ada!
It looks delicious. I won't try it for a while but if someone could get us a nice little review on this I would love to know how it tastes and what the texture is like.

I've heard of this before. I'm not being critical- just trying to understand the numbers.
When I compare the data against plain white bread, a thick slice, the bread seems to have better numbers. Bread has 1g Fat vs 7.4 for Oopsie, bread has 0g cholesterol compared to 122mg. Only sodium and total carbs is better.

Am I not placing enought emphasis on the importance fo the carbs?
