i'm waiting to get a VSG sometime in the beginning of next year with Dr. Atlas.  Have been waiting since Dec. 08 and cannot wait anymore!!!   I'm so anxious to get my date....

Welcome back Keeana. I noticed on the French board that you had some improving news from Martine that your turn is coming up. That's great!!! This board is getting pretty active. You might as well jump on board.

Thank you Derek, yes, I did talk to Martine last week and she said there was about 5 or 6 people in front of me and that they should call me for my pre-tests in December or January but most likely after the Holidays....  So if the tests are good for only 2 months, as I read somewhere,  I should have my surgery by March....   I was so happy, I nearly cried.....   Most people around me are supportive but some aren't but it's ok, i'm still happy and can't wait for my date!!!!   What about you Derek, any news???

Hi Anne,
I already did my group meeting in September and I'll I'm waiting for is the call to start doing the blood work and I'm all set to start my liquid diet. I've been dieting for the past 6 weeks now trying to get under a BMI of 50 so I only have 2 weeks of liquids to do instead of 4. I've managed to lose over 25 pounds now and I'm only 15 more pounds to goal. I so wish we could get this surgery. You, Ada and I have been waiting the longest in all the people I know so I can't wait to get that call to go in for some tests. I will be calling Martine next week if I don't hear from them tomorrow. It's been almost 3 months that I've gone for my pre-surgery meeting. It's false hope if you ask me. This waiting game is nuts.

I also have Dr. Atlas and have been on the waiting list since Sept 09. I'm trying my best to be patient since I figure I have a long wait still to go, but I'm kinda curious on where I stand.  I keep hearing about Martine - is she the person who takes care of the scheduling etc.?  Is she bilingual?  (I don't speak French).  What number do you call her at?

thanks for welcoming me. I have noticed that for you and Derek it seems to be taking longer for your surgery date? I am starting to worry that they won't give me my date by the time they said they would... I would be sooooo desapointed. They said before May for sure and i have only been waiting since August, i so hope they are not giving me wrong info... lolllllll...

I cannot wait either, i am so impatient ahahah...

Talk to you soon, and hey i also noticed that the Outaouais Region is starting to join for this surgery more and more, this is awesome! I go to Lachute 4 times ayear, i usually sleep there for the week-end to go to the big Flea-Market in St-Eustache!

Hey Kessey,

the waiting time, I think, depends on your dr.  I have dr.Atlas and since I have a lot of health problems, I can't get my surgery in Rockland ( a clinic, my dr. operates in for people that don't have health problems except obesity) and I have to have it in the hospital where they can take charge of me if something happens, wish i don't think will happen, but you never know....  

I HAVE been waiting since Dec. 08 but as you can read in my response to Derek, i'm getting closer to a surgery date.... finally.   Don't want to discourage you but, at first, dr. Atlas told me it would be 16 to 18 months of waiting, then 18 to 20 months but it has been 24 months now and still no date except that I know it's gonna be in the beginning of the new year....   BUT maybe, it's only related to my case!!!!   I don't remember who's your surgeon and I don't know your story but maybe it will go faster for you.....    I sure hope so for you!!!!   Anyway's, good luck to you....

This is so great! It would be awesome if they give you your surgery date right after the Holidays kinda like a x-mas gift ahaha... I am happy to hear that you are getting closer and closer...

My surgeon is Dr. Garneau as same for Derek. Dr. Garneau said they would do the surgery at the rockland clinic and if needed after the surgery they will send me to sacre-coeur's hospital for 1 night but i have to sleep in a hotel for 3 days after that... I have no known medical issues and lets hope that that is still the case by the time they send me for the apnea test and blood test...

I wont discourage too much then, if you say the wait was longer for you since of health issues then i understand... lets just hope nothing comes up on my side lollllllll...

Well i am very happy to know you are close to your surgery! This is amazing! It alsmost seems like you Derek and me will get our surgeries almost at the same time, can you imagin? So groovy! lol

Hello Kessey and welcome to our  little family...

Nice to hear of someone else that is Dr.Garneau's patient. A little surprised (and jealous too...lol) about you possibly getting your surgery so soon.But going through Rockland will be faster...

It's exactly one year now that I've seen Dr. Garneau for my consult and still waiting. That's the toughest part so far. I think that the reality of it will hit me when I have a more definite date.

I feel that I am so ready now since I've been "technically" waiting now for over 4 years.(I was on a waiting list already with Dr. Christou...and no call...not even for a consult)
