I wanted to share this with you guys.....I was in Rimouski last week for a conference and did a little pre Xmas shopping and popped in at Laura Secord for some chocolate treats a few gift ideas.  I saw they had a section of sugar free chocolates available and I decided to give myself a small nine piece variety box. They cost about 90cents each and they have quite a few different flavors like raspberry, peanut butter, praline, hazelnut, etc.  They are sweetened with malitol ( a sugar alcohol).  The verdict: They are very good. I was pleasantly surprized how good they tasted.  Probably those of you living in the big city already knew this but in case you didn't now you have a place to go to tame your sweet tooth! Enjoy!

Hi Brenda,

Maltitol is great but you need to be careful. Too much and you will be running for the bathroom real fast...lol

I use to work part-time with a friend who sold a "vast" selection of sugar free products. Chocolates, cookies, jelly beans, caramels, jams as well we had a pastry chef that specialised in fat free/sugar free baked goods including rice crispy treats. She once made a birthday cake for my dad (post heart attack) which was angel food with chocolate icing...fantastic. My dad couldn't believe it was sugar/fat free. My friend unfortunately has moved to Calgary but if I remember correctly the pastry chef was in the NDG area in Montreal. I still have her name and number somewhere and I will try and find it and post her info.
