lap band covered by Quebec?

Can anyone tell me if Quebec pays for Lap Band.  Is there a cost that I have to pay.

The Lap Band is covered in QC but you must wait for the syteme to put you through. The wait time varies from 6 to 18 months. Have you done all the research necessary on the Lap Band. It is not for everyone. It's just something to think about.

Yes I was in to see my Dr. today and I have decided to have it. Up until today I wasn't sure.and that was because my son had the RNY and I just figured I would like to have the same.  I have been doing all the research on it and I am now much more comfortable.  My Dr. here will do the follow up but I will go to Mtrl for the fill.  Things are falling into place.    Doris  he told me less than 6months

I did get a response from Mtrl they pay the surgery I just have to pay the 2 weeks preop diet. That is great.  Do  you know how much it is .        Doris

If the pre-op diet is optifast then it's $50 a week.

Yeah the price is not too bad considering you won't be buying any food for yourself those weeks !!
But I think you have to come to Montreal to get it at the rockland clinic. So maybe you can combine an appointment or something to avoid 2 trips.

Can u? That would save me a trip. Can you ask him since I live in Gatineau if I can come and buy it there too? 

I don't go back to see him till Jan. that is not unless I get a call before from Mtrl,  Call the weight management clinic at the civic. they should be able to tell you. I have been apatient  there since 1989.  They are willing to keep me on. That certainly will be a help.   Doris
