I used to go check Sears big'n tall dept (Casual something...), they carry Columbia sportswear (it's the coolest I could find). L'Équipeur sometimes has nice stuff too. Bovet (on metropolitain blvd) could also have nice coats at decent price.

I second Columbia. I had found mine at a local Big N Tall and it wasn't too expensive and it was a 3 in 1. I know Sears has them because I saw them there last week. If I was a bit smaller I could give you mine but I might need it this winter.

I don't know about Sears stores in your area, but Sears in Trois-Rivières doesn't have much big'n tall items in store. The best way to see the inventory is via the website or the paper catalog...But then you have to rely on size charts, order a coat and return it prn.
