What protein shakes to buy???
I'm currently trying to prepare for my surgery and i wanted to try some protein shakes... I know i'm not there yet, but it would still be good for me to drink now cause i don't eat breakfast in the morning and nothing till about 2:00 pm then i eat for the rest of the day.... And i was telling myself that i could stand to lose a few pounds while waiting!!! So, what protein shakes have you tried and would recommend i try and where did you buy it? I would also like to buy locally, don't want to order anywhere....
Thanks
Anne

Hi Anne!
In my opinion, Premier protein shakes are the best. I bought my first box yesterday at Costco after hearing positive comments about this brand (here and on other forums).
I'm very pleased with taste and texture. Even if there's 30g of proteins per serving (325ml approx) and are low-carb, they taste like regular chocolate milk, unlike other stuff I've tried. Retail price is about $40 for 18 shakes...probably best bang for your buck!
Joel
P.S.: Premier shakes are available in chocolate and vanilla flavour but Costco only carries chocolate flavour.

Anne, I can't comment on what is sold locally but I wanted to let you know of my own experience to avoid you losing as much money as I have. I also wanted to prepare before surgery and bought protein shakes in abundance. I hit the sales and figured stocking up was a great idea since I live in a small remote town where I can't buy locally. Much to my regret, I never imagined that I wouldn't be able to digest the whey protein after surgery. I had terrible stomach cramps and pain and had to find an alternative to whey protein. So I ended up throwing away several hundred dollars of protein( I did keep them until the expiry date...still hoping). I managed to sell a small amount but in the end I couldn't use most of them or even give them away to someone close by. Your idea to try some before surgery is a good one, just don't stock up on anything as your taste buds do change after surgery and you don't know how you'll react to them after surgery.

Like Joel said, Premier chocolate shakes at Costco are very good, they are my favorite since the beginning, and are ready to drink, so no mixing... Like Brenda said, do not stock on protein powders, your tastes may change... During the first months, all I could take was was the premier shakes, all powder were making me sick. After a while, I tried some powders... I really like Whey Gourmet I buy at GNC stores, especially oreo and raspberry flavours. The costco chocolate isolate and vanilla are not so bad, but I always mix them with some flavoured syrups, so I don't know what they taste alone... I bought in the US the Nectar chocolate truffle, it is my all time favorite because it taste light chocolate, but also because the powder is fine and mixes very very well. I have to find somewhere to order , or buy it in Canada...
Thanks everyone,
i will try the shakes from Costco.... I will take your words and not buy too much now.... I'm only trying to eat better and less, get my proteins in and try to lose a few pounds before surgery.... I think it would help me to wait a little bit longer.... I just wish time would fly by.....
