I was posting on the Ontario forum and was very nicely informed I was in the wrong forum.  And I do mean nicely not nasty.  So here I am introducing myself.  I am hoping to have surgery with Dr. Gagner for a revision from RNY to DS.  If I get lucky enough to get insurance approval I might need everyones help.  I will be traveling alone and I don't know North from South so this could turn out to be quite the adventure for me.  If I get approval I will let everyone know.

Anyway, just wanted to say hi to everyone.

Hi Terry and welcome to the board. We are a small but faithful group. New members like yourself are posting which is great! Ask away. Like Florida, Québec is a big province but we are great hosts and love meeting new folks. If you don't mind me asking, how long ago did you have your RNY and was there a particular reason why it didn't work? I recently had RNY and am still dealing with the fear of regain. I would most appreciate your wisdom in your journey to help me along with mine. Good luck with your approval process.

 Hi Brenda,
I had my RNY in 2002 at 407# and got down to 233.  I stayed there for 6 years and then slowly started regaining my weight.  I am now back up to 323.  My pouch has stretched and opening into the intestines.  I never did dump which I wish I would have so slipping into bad habits have been too easy for me.  I have been trying to cut out sweets and have done pretty good so far but I can eat like a normal person.  I don't exercise due to bad knees and hip and the only walking I do is at my job.  Used to do a lot of walking etc. but now with the extra weight no.  If you keep control of what you eat and how much you will do fine.  I can gorge and be stuffed and be literally hungry in half an hour due to the large opening.  Just goes through me.  I was in and out of the hospital with the RNY due to dehydration, severe electrolyte imbalance, no being able to keep anything down and a PE so I am VERY anxious about the revision.  Can't keep going the way I am now.  Hope this helps and thanks for the welcome.

Hi Terry
I would suggest that you have use of a car while in Montreal, we needed it and as flucca will likely say, if you don't have a car it costs a lot for cabs. We stayed near the airport but I would suggest staying in the Laval area as there is more of a neighbourhood there. If you can bring someone who speaks French, that would be helpful. If I can help you with anything please let me know.

 Brenda,
I will be traveling alone.  My husband is an ass so I don't want him anywhere around.  I don't need the added stress.  The rest of my family is against any further surgery due to my problems with the RNY so I am on my own.  I will rent a car I have no problem with that part.  What hotels do you recommend so I can start researching.  Anything and everything will help out.  Thanks and keep doing better.
