Hi guys! My name is Lisa, I am in Montreal.

My sleeve is scheduled for september 14, in Mexico. I have been looking into all of this (started by thinking it would be a band, but then went to sleeve), since march of this year.

The wait here is tooooooo long for me, so I decided on private. I have been booked since end of June. Would have gone in July, but I am out of the country for work all of August, and figured it was better to be at home for post op!

Hi there Iam in the Pontiac Quebec.  4 hrs from Montreal.  Did you see a Dr. in Montreal. I am new at this and not familar with the sleeve.   I would like to go to the USA or Toronto and have the surgery.
I don't feel comfortable about Mexico.  Is the Quebec insurance paying for the surgery.  It is a shame that living in Quebec we have  to travel so far to have it done. If I was in Ontario I could have it done right away. I have appt. ug. 30 th. for a consultation. I cannot wait for years. I am getting up in age.Thew won't do it after a certain age.    Doris

I have been to various meetings, but mostly about the lap band. After doing alot of my own research as well as speaking to as many docs as I could, I decided the sleeve was a better option for me. The wait for the sleeve is just too long for me, and the 22, 000 price tag for the montreal private surgery is too high.

Quebec does not pay for anything if you go private or outside the province, so it is all out of pocket!

I did alot , alot of research before choosing my hospital and doctor. I am very comfortable with my choice, and am really looking forward to the 14th of september!!!

I figure that if I needed an operation (other than barriatric)  here, I would not have the choice of a surgeon, so really, this being able to pick is a bonus! I broke my foort and ankle a few years back, and the docs forgot to operate a part of my foot the 1st time, so I had 2 operations in 3 days (yay..super fun being twice under general anesthesia!) .. so really...it can not be that bad!!!

My doc in Mexico has done over 500 sleeves, and thousands of bands, so it is all good!!!

well  I wish you good luck and  please keep me posted on your recovery. I am not familiar with the proceedure. Did you  have a consult in Montreal.  This is all new to me.  Like you I cannot wait I am 72 and if they keep me waiting  they will not take me. Some take till 65 and some 75. The fact that my specialist has sent in papers to Montreal I am hopeful.
Who   Is going to Mexico with you. How long will you be there.  I am happy for you.  I have a bad knee the Dr. just said it was done when he looked at the xray. Just what I wanted to hear.. will keep you posted.  Doris

I will be going to Mexico with my husband, if he can get back from Europe on time! If not, I will go alone. It is 3 nights in the hospital, so it is quite quick. It's all arranged, someone picks you up at the airport ect, so if I have to go alone, I am ok with that!

I hope that the doctors get back to you quickly!!! I will send you some positive vibes!
