Thank you. This is all happening so quickly that I am rushing to make arrangements. So my mom and I are flying in on the 29th. It will only be a 15 minute cab ride to the hospital from trudeau airport? Please feel free to scold me if I am way off - lol.

Hi Jennifer,

To answer your question...I work near the airport and I live near the hospital so it usually takes me about 25 minutes with morning and evening traffic. So it would be a bit less with no traffic.

Thanks for the warm welcom and great info.  It is good to know that most people are bilingual in the area, that will make things much easier.  Old Quebec sounds nice, hope I'll get the opportunity to see it.  Thanks so much for the info, and I'm sure both me and Jennifer will have many more questions as the time approaches and greatly appreciate your advice and information.  Are you having DS as well or another procedure?  Also, have you ever been in this hospital for any other reason, I had heard that most rooms are two to four patients to a room, is that true.  How is the facility over all, is it clean, modern, in a safe area?  Thank you.

Hi,

It's my pleasure.

I'm actually having VSG surgery. I'm still waiting for the call from the hospital...hoping very soon. I'm curious as to why you have chosen this route for your surgery?

I have never been to this hospital (even though  I live very close) so you'll have to ask some of the other people who have actually gone through with the surgery.

As I had replied to Jennifer the area is quite safe...you are actually in the suburbs...lol

Hi and welcome to the Quebec board.
I had a VSG in May at Sacre Coeur Hospital.  The hospital is not brand new, but it is clean.
And from what I saw yes the rooms are mostly 2 or 4 people in each. But you can request a single room.

Many of the nurses and helpers are bilingual, so you should be able to get someone to understand.

If you have any other questions, please let us know.

Hi Cindy
It's good to meet someone else who has bariatric surgery there. I have a question : do you have to pay to cross the body of water just west of the hospital? Which body of water is that?
Thanks,

Err, Montreal is an island, so there are toll free bridges over all the rivers...leading to and off the island surrounding it...not sure what" body of water" you are referring to!..The airport is west island, in Dorval...Sacre Coeur is more like north island...north of downtown at any rate!..No body of water to cross, so you can leave your bathing suit at home  (lol)

Thanks. I was looking at hotels east of the hospital. We have booked the Radisson near Dorval though. I am used to Florida where there are tolls to cross the water.

Dr. Gagner is one of the best revision surgeons in the world. He will be performing surgery at that hospital. That's how i ended up there.
