Yogourt " ice" cream...

Ok, I am craving ice cream treats for now, and ate some very delicious chocolate and almond covered one from costco last week, but they are very rich, so I am trying other home made recipes...

I used greek yogourt, and it works quite well. It is very good when eaten right away, but it is very hard when in the freezer for some time... What I do is that I put it 30 sec in the microwave, and it is easier to spoon and is smoother to eat...

Tropical iced yogourt

1/2 cup plain greek yogourt
1/2 cup canned mango in fruit juice, with a little of the juice
1 tablespoon pineapple Da Vinci Syrup
1 tablespoon toasted marshmallow Da Vinci Syrup

Black forest iced yogourt

1/2 cup plain greek yogourt
1/2 cup of pitted  fresh cherries
2 tablespoons of White chocolate Da Vinci syrup
1 tablespoon of chopped black chocolate

Mix the yogourt with the syrup, and put in the pre-freeze ice cream bowl, and run the machine. When it is almost done, add  the fruits...

The taste is very good, but the consistency is a little bit hard... Need more fat to be softer, but hey, it isn't too bad for a non fat treat!

I will try slushes with fruit Da Vincy syrup and crushed ice, must be good too...I really like those syrup, they have so many uses...

Have a nice sweet but guilt-free week!!

Thanks for the tips Diane. I think I need an ice cream maker.
What is Greek yogourt? Where did you get it?

Greek yogourt is made by Liberty and I find it at IGA. You have it plain or vanilla. What is interesting is that it has no fat and 20g of protein by 175g. It is thick and creamy.

I am definitely getting an ice cream machine . Your ideas are wonderful. I am not that creative with food so do keep us informed of your recipes. You could become our own local eggface. What do you think?

Thanks Brenda and Joel, I don't think I could be as imaginative as Eggface, but I love to try new things... We can all pitch in and create a Quebec Eggface!
