Hiya!

Had my post-op appointment with Dr. Garneau today (my doc, Dr. Atlas, is on vacation). It was super fast ... he asked a couple of questions, had a look across the desk at my incisions and then sent me on my way to the nurse to have my stitches taken out.

I get my first fill on July 7th! Woohoo!

Had I known you were going to see Dr. Garneau I would have asked you to checked up on where me and Ada sit on the waiting list as he is our Dr.

I'm glad everything is going well. How much is the first fill set to be at?

Oh, sorry, I should have mentioned that earlier! I am seeing him July 7th, I can certainly ask then!

He didn't say how much the fill is going to be. It was extremely rushed - I think I was in his office for less than 5 mins. I kind of expected him to poke around a little, but nope - "Feeling ok? Did you have nausea/vomiting? Getting the liquids in without problem? OK, take care!"

It was the same for me when I went for my consult. I drove 2 hours to get there. Waited an hour in the waiting room. Waited 30 minutes in his office. Spoke with Dr. Garneau for max 15 minutes. Drove back 3 hours in traffic back to Aylmer. 5h30 hours for a 15 minute chat. This surgery better be worth it. LOL

All the surgeons are the same... My doctor doesn't even sit down... He says," hello, go to the scale, and see you in 3 months" takes 2-3 minutes...Well, the bariatric "team" is nothing like they have in the US ! We have to educate ourselves on the net!

It is for this same reason I opted to have my followup in my local hospital. I will be heading to Montreal in the fall to see my surgeon for 5 minutes and bloodwork. Imagine a eleven hour drive for five minutes....Sometimes a small hospital is better. I have seen the internist four times and had bloodwork every 3 months. I am excited to learn about the lapband experience so please do keep us posted.
