Why we choose surgery ...

Every situation is different Ana but for me my spouse was very afraid for me having the surgery. He felt it was a too drastic intervention. My spouse is also obese and openly admitted his resistence. However he is and has always been very respectful of my decisions and we did have a few up and downs but he is my best support in this journey. Unlike many other women my husband bent over backwards to help through the preop diet by not eating supper at home. Not even once! He understood how the smell of cooking food would be hard for me. After surgery he was careful what he brought home until I insisted I was fine with his food choices and that it didn't bother me. I will forever be grateful to him for that kind of support especially when you don't agree with your partner's decision. As for my parents well to my surprize they were also very supportive. My best friend also. When I think of it all my support network was there for me. Even colleagues (I do work in a hospital). I found people curious and wanting to understand. I realize writing this that I was surrounded by a great bunch of supporter's. I am lucky.
