NSV: I've found my thrill ...on Mount Orford!

Hi!

This is a follow-up on last month "the thrill is gone" post...

This weekend, my wife and I spent a couple of days in the eastern townships (my parents acted as babysitters), and we found this rather "chic" french-type bistro where we decided to have supper. The menu was very tempting. I chose "soupe a l'oignon gratinée" for entrée. I ate all of the cheese and croutons but left most of the broth. Main course has been "bavette de boeuf aux fines herbes". I could eat most of the bavette and even hand about a dozen french fries with mayo! I also had a glass of red wine. The soup, bavette and sides went down easily...no aches, no bloating!!!

I've learned from this experience that eating in a really really calm setting and taking time (almost 2 hours) to enjoy food is really key in enjoying a great meal... Unlike uncle Mick, I can (still) get satisfaction!

But I still have to learn some way to eat in this state of mind in my everyday setting, with much more limited time and my kids acting around...It probably won't be simple, but I intend to work that out!

What  a great way to celebrate your victories! I am so hungry tonight ( don't know why, I had a great chicken brochette ...) and your menu makes me so jealous LOL   It's true we don't take enough time to eat and enjoy our meals now that we eat so little... But like you said life is not always this relaxing with kids! I think it is a good lesson to remember... learn to take time to eat end enjoy...
Glad you had a great week-end!

I am happy for you Joel. What a beautiful evening you had with your wife. As I read your post I was already full after the entree LOL . I have been struggling more this week with my food intake. Everything feels like a brick going down. I've also been eating very slowly but if I take any longer to eat I will be grazing all day long LOL....It must have been nice just to feel somewhat normal again. My day will come. I know that. Until then I am moving forward and dreaming of a day I can eat an entree and small meal all in a sitting. Who would have thought I would actually say that before surgery. No wonder this journey is so crazy and it plays on our psyche! Everything seems paradoxical.
