Hi,

I'm scheduled to have VSG with Dr. Atlas at Sacre Coeur sometimes this year and can't wait for my date...   I want to know who has had or will have him as a dr. and how do you rate him...  I've only met him once and for only maybe 15 min. so didn't get a good idea if he's really nice or not.  Also, would like to chat with others who have him as a dr.  to talk about your experience.  I've talked to salem about it and so far so good but would like others opinions.  You can send a pm if you prefer.  Don't remember who told me already that had the same dr. so don't know who to ask the questions to.

Thanks
Anne

Hi Keanna,

I'll be as honest as I can. I would not choose Dr. Atlas for bedside service. He is very clinical and fast and does not take much time to talk to you or get to know you at all. He was never rude, never late, never unprofessional-- just felt a little like I was on a conveyor belt if that makes any sense. After my first meeting with him I had met with Dr. Leclerc about the band; totally different impression, Dr. Leclerc was warm and inquisitive, really wanted to know my motivation etc. I decided to go with Dr. Atlas not because he was so wonderful but because he is capable and I wanted my surgery. I've met with him in total between my consult, my surgery, and my follow up a total of under 10 minutes. I don't have any regrets though because my surgery was done very well and the nurses more than made up for his lack of bedside manner.

Best of luck!

Thanks Kassandra,

I hear he's a good surgeon but his bedside manners and aftercare are only soso.  I chose him as my dr. because he could perform the vsg , was not too far away from my home (1 1/2 hours) and had the shortest waiting time but I'm STILL waiting after 15 months....  I aslo heard he's a good surgepm amd very specific at what he does....   Hope all goes well for me, I'm still so anxious for my surgery date and having concerns about the actual surgery!!!  I still have so many questions and that's why and want them answered by people that actually went thru  what I'm going thry or will be going thru shortly I HOPE SOON....

Anne

Hi,

I met Dr Atlas to get a VSG in 2007 and had my surgery 1 year later in august of 2008. He seems very straighforward and clinical but he does care for his patients.  It is always best to come prepared with your questions because he will not spend 15 min chit chatting with you but he is very good at what he does and is very careful in his interventions.

He was very good in his follow ups with me and took the time to answer my questions. I got used to his ways and in dec 2009 my sleeved had stretched a little and I was not losing any more pounds so he suggested the gastric bypass. He offered to do it within 3 weeks, which is pretty fast.  Since it was a big decision, I preferrred waiting 3 months before having it.
Dr Atlas  has a wonderful team that cares for his patients and i call always call them up at Sacre Coeur to get answers to my questions. I had a little complication after my bypass and I even got an appointement the same day.

The only thing that I find sad is that he referes to us as obeses.. I told him last time that I cant wait for him to call me something other than obeses when I lose the weight.. I like him and with time I have gotten a smile or two from him.. .. He even laughed once which is a good thing!

He was with a very known comedian for over 15 years so I know he has a sense of humour :)
