Thanks Ada! (part II)

Quantity-wise, the amounts of food I eat are much smaller than what I used to eat. For example, my typical Subway meal was a 12-inch all-dressed sandwich trio...Since surgery, I went a couple of times, and a 6-inch sandwich (no chips, no pop) provides me with a lunch and an afternoon snack!!!

I now realize that I used to eat much more on food than I need to...But then again, I'm convinced that I would never could cut down on eating as much as I do without surgery...There's a brain-stomach thing I don't get! Maybe one day I'll understand!!

Hi Joel.

I'm tossing in my welcome as well. I love this board and have found a huge amount of support here! I'm glad we've got another vet on the boards so we can give  Brenda a break from all our questions

Thanks yayawhat!

Since my surgery was 3 months ago, I feel much more like a newborn, but I guess 1 can be seen as a vet too!

By the way, I love your nick name!

Hi Joel,

I'm actually still waiting for my surgery. I went for the consult in December and anxiously waiting my turn. I'm having the VSG. I had asked Dr.Garneau about the DS put he said that I would do really well with the VSG. Anyway we shall see...

You seem to be eating pretty well and still losing but as you say the amounts are alot smaller than what you use to eat. Do you have any side affects to the surgery...?

By for now,
Ada

Hey Ada!

I eat pretty much all that is permitted (except chunky  meat and pasta) but my servings are way smaller then what they used to be. As for side effects: some abdominal discomfort when I eat too much (I' ve had a few episodes of vomiting, teaching me my new limits!).

I got to snack more regularly then I used to, to prevent hypoglycemia. Hypoglycemia kicks in more rapidly after DS.

Since I burn more fat then before, I tend to have bad breath (specially when I haven't eaten for a while), and it also alters the taste of what I eat. Brushing teeth, drinking lots of water and snaking do help to control this problem.

Overall, I'm very pleased with the results of my surgery...No regrets at all
