A high protein grain known as quinoa

A friend of mine who is vegan mentionned me this grain and I have been experimenting with it lately. You can buy them in most health stores and I would think in major cities just about anywhere now. It gives you 12g of protein with a quarter cup. I am doing this from memory so the stats could be alittle off. Right now I can eat no more than a quarter cup and somenights with a meat it is less. You can also cook it and eat as a breakfast cereal with warm milk (I use Almond milk since I cannot tolerate milk since my surgery). I add a dash a vanilla and spendla and it is wonderful. I also use it to replace my rice or pasta at this point.  I also eat it mixed with spinnach, salad dressing and cheese and makes kinda of a tabloué. I've  been experiencing with recipies found online and would share some if anyone is interested.  For the newbies, I would wait for a couple more months before having this as it sits in your pouch quite long.  It was a wonderful find for me and wanted to share. PS. Found barley flakes and quinoa flakes to make cereal. Haven't tried them yet.

I used quinoa a few time ( before surgery!) I made a kind of risotto, and also a salad . I don't find it very tasty, but maybe after surgery it will be different. There's also a quinoa puff cereal, I used it in a square recipe with chocolate...mmmm.... I don't think I will do that now!

It is bland but I boil mine with chicken broth or some diluted orange juice to add flavor.

Quinoa is great both sweet or salty and I'm all for natural sources of protein so I don't have to use powders yuck! Also I like to add lots of veggies and some feta cheese. Definitely needs something to kick up the taste. If you guys have any other high protein finds send them my way!!
