Where to buy proteins and other vitamins...

Ada just ask me where to buy the proteins, so I figured to make a new topic, so all info could be found here.
Like many post-op have said, do not get too many proteins before, maybe your taste will change or you won't be needing all of them. I went to GNC store, but many proteins powders are in big cans, so unable to try them. I found Isopure and many other proteins shakes at Pharmaprix, also. Costco has also unflavoured protein, chocolate, vanilla, or ready to drink chocolate. But these are huge tubs, so be sure you like those...They have ready to drink premier shake chocolate that many say it's delicious, I bought a 24 pack, have yet to try it.

But  mostly I ordered on the web.

www.proteinshop.com you can order the bullet by the unit, not the case, so you can order a few, to taste. If you order more than 49$ they send you a sample of a few of their proteins products. If you order more than 79$ no delivery fees, and mor than 99, you get 10 %.off.

Bariatricchoice.com They have proteins, but also the bariatric advantage vitamins that are often recommended. Same thing as the protein shop for the sample, shipping, etc...

In Canada, there is thelowcarbgrocery.com, for Da Vinci syrup, proteins bars and low carb stuff.
I also heard of netrition and supplements canada, but didn't ordered from them.

When I ordered from the protein shop, I didn't pay any duties or taxes. But sometimes you will have to pay, I think it depends on the custom officer that day...

Have a nice day!

Diane

Thanks Diane!!

This is really helpful. I wonder if any place has little sample sizes to try. It would be a real waste to buy tubs of things that you don't like.

Once again un gros merci Diane!

Hi everybody,
So I checked out theproteinshop.com (Thanks Diane) and tried the on-line chat to see if I could get answer right away . So I chatted with "Megan" I will try posting our chat so anybody who had similar questions as me can get the info. they want:

[Ada] Hi,
[Megan] Hello. My name is Megan. I will be happy to assist you today.
[Ada] Hi Megan
[Megan] Hi Ada, what can I help you with?
[Ada] I'm from montreal quebec and would be interedted in getting some of your products but I have a couple of question firs.
[Megan] Ok, I will be happy to answer your questions.
[Ada] I'm going in for bariatric surgery soon and need to get some high protein products. Are you familiar with products for bariatric patients?
[Megan] I sure am.  You were probably told to stick to strictly liquid correct?
[Megan] We offer a wide range of products that are high in protein that you only need to consume in a small amount
[Ada] 2 weeks clear liquids, 2 week other liquids and 2 weeks mushies
[Ada] all with protein as the most important thing
[Megan] Great, if you
click here you will be brought to our liquid protein page of our website
[Megan] This page is strictly liquid protein products.  We also have a Medical/Surgical page that you may be more interested in.  Simply
click here to visit that page.
[Ada] Tried clicking on it tells me it's an error page
[Ada] The second link is ok
[Megan] I apologize for that Ada.
[Megan] The second link is probably a better suggestion for what exactly you are looking for
[Megan] Here is the first hyperlink if you would like to copy and paste it into your browser: http://www.proteinshop.com/liquid-hydrolyzed-protein-supplements-183.html
[Ada] I will take a look at it...now do you guys sell sample sizes of proteins? Everyone tells me not to buy large amounts and to try and get samples first since things can change drastically post-op.
[Megan] We do sell 1oz. bottles of the liquid proteinex
[Megan] These are single serving sizes that have 15g of protein and only 60 calories
[Megan] They come in an orange, lemon-lime, and black cherry flavor
[Megan] For other nutritional information on this product, simply click here
[Megan]
click here. I apologize for that
[Ada] Thanks for the link...How about the protein bullets...some post-opers say they're good and some don't. do you sell those?
[Megan] We sell protein viles.  They are 42g protein/vile.  Here is the link for these products.
[Megan] They are a very popular product and the 25g viles are actually on sale this week!
[Ada] I'm assuming we mix it with something...sorry I'm really new at this...lol
[Megan] It is quite alright.  It is good to ask when in doubt!  They are great served over iced, or simply watered down.  I prefer the orange flavor the most
[Ada] ok thanks...just one more thing...two actually...lol What are you shipping costs to Montreal, Quebec and what is the shelf life of some of these products?
[Megan] We offer free shipping on all orders over $79 to the U.S. and Canada
[Ada] that's great!
[Megan] The shelf life of these products is at least 12 months.  They are good for a while!
[Ada] since I don't have an exact date of surgery yet I will wait a bit but does it take a long time for delivery? I think I'd like to maybe try some things pre-op but not commit to any one thing.
[Megan] Standard delivery time to Canada is about 7-14 business days, not including any days that your package may be held at customs
[Ada] Does anything need refrigeration?
[Megan] I would not recommend keeping the vials refrigerated.  Like I said, they are great served over ice, but keeping them in the fridge may break down the protein
[Ada] Great info Megan...now how can I save all our convo...with the links and not lose anything.
[Megan] Ada, By clicking "END" you will be able to close our chat session. You will also be able to request a copy of our chat today-  Is there anything else that I can help you with today?

You will also be able to participate in a short survey on the level of assistance that I provided today. We value your feedback. Have a great day!

[Ada] No I think that's all for today Megan...you've been very helpful and I look forward to trying the products very soon!
[Megan] Great!  I'm happy to hear that.  Thanks again for your business Ada.  Have a wonderful day!
[Ada] Thanks again..bye

Ok so I hope this works especially the links. If they don't let me know and I'll do a copy/paste thingy...lol

OK guys have a great day...chat later on

Glad you had your questions answered Ada... I ordered from the protein shop and I received my package in less than a week.

As for Minogue, I didn't talk about it, because they will not have the bariatric advantage vitamins after their stock is gone. That's why the expiration dates are so close. I ordered from them just before my surgery, and guess what, the vitamins where 75% off ( expiration date end of march), and on your first order, you receive 50%, so I paid 22$ total  including delivery for multivitamins, B12,iron and calcium !!! all for 3 months. All those will be expired before I finished them, but 1-2 months is ok. I didn't order more, because vitamins can be less effective when expired from several months.
This was a one-time deal!

What I also did is searching the web for companies producing bariatric vitamins, and I e-mail many companies to ask samples from their products. I received a full bottle of one kind, and I am waiting for many other samples. I ask bariatric advantage, celebrate, and many other companies I don't remember. Just one said that they didn't deliver to Canada. Just make a google search for bariatric vitamins...and ask them...

Not much luck for protein samples...

Good luck in your shopping!

((hugs))

I just received my samples from celebrate vitamins. Interesting, they send me a couple of flavor of calcium, iron and multis in pill, or chew, or powder for the water. These are singles, but a good way to taste different flavors, I have 10 different samples.
