Thanks for the welcoming.

Optifast goes by your BMI. I have to do it for 4 weeks. For a BMI of 50 - 60 its' 4 weeks. For a BMI over 60 it's 6 weeks.

Holly crap Cindy that's long. What happens if I drop it under 50? Do I get to go on it for 2 weeks? I hope so and that'll be my goal. Right now I'm around 54 so that means 4 weeks. I've got some work to do.

Oh my GOODNESS! I haven't been on the boards for 3 days and look at all this activity!!! Terribly exciting! Welcome to newbies and welcome back for all those who have been around before. I love this board and have found a lot of support here.

Well today is my two weeks out date and things are going fine. I feel like I can eat pretty much anything but only in teeny tiny amounts which is nice. I even went to dinner last night and had some soup and some potatoes. It wasn't as bad as I anticipated. I'm good with the vitamins, water, but the protein is really challenging to get it-- as a result I'm extremely low energy but I'm working on it.

I have no regrets about the surgery either and can't wait for you all to get your call-- I remember the day and I was so excited to be on the other side of the surgery and thought it would never come but it DID! Just have faith and soon we'll be coaching you through the pre op diet and liquids phase!!!

Wow Kass I can't believe you are 2 weeks out and eating little bit of everything. I hope my suregry goes as smooth sailing as yours has. Keep us posted on what's going on and next time tell your family to go and pick the KFC up themselves. How dare they?

Hi everyone! I'm Liane. I'm 40, and having Lap-Band surgery with Dr. Atlas at the Rockland Medical Centre.
I had my first appointment with him in November of 2009, and at that point was given the option of going on the RAMQ waiting list, or doing it privately. He mentioned that the wait with medicare would be 2-3 years, maybe more, maybe less. Before I left the office, he asked me to let him know which way I wanted to go.
I knew right away that I didn't want to wait another couple of years if I could possibly help it - I'd made up my mind that I wanted to have this surgery, and I was sooo excited coming out of his office I could barely stand it! Unfortunately, I don't just have 17K in change in the bottom of my purse (no matter how heavy it is with loonies and toonies, they just don't add up that quickly). The next couple of months were spent looking at finances with my husband, and figuring out how we could swing it.
Last Monday, I made the call to transfer the file to RMD, I'm doing it privately. They told me last week that the file would be transferred and someone from Rockland would be calling me. I hadn't heard from them by this morning, so I gave them a quick call. Apparently the file hadn't made it over yet. Imagine my surprise when half an hour ago, they called and offered me a March 3rd date! Unfortunately, I have a work thing that means I can't be out at all until after April 12th. I'm truly amazed at how quickly they are moving, though.

Hmmm I really didn't mean to make this introduction such a novel! Thanks for having the patience to read down this far.... :)

A little more about me - I'm 5'7, weigh approx 350 (I'll have a more accurate number soon), married, no kids. I like romantic picnics...oh wait, this sounds more like a dating site introduction, sorry.

I am soooo thrilled to have found this forum, and really look forward to getting to know all of you through this incredible journey!

Hi Liane,
Welcome to the board. I'm sad to say that we don't take Hab fans here. LOL Just kidding (I'm a Sens fan). I would have been able to go the private route but thought to myself, I'm only 23 (at the time) and I can wait another couple of years. If I was 40 at the time I think I would have made the same choice as you. I'm so glad we have another "batch" of people who are going to go through surgery just like Diane, Kass and Brenda have done in the past. More surgeries means more to learn and more to learn means an easier pre and post-op for others to come like myself.

Hope to see you around more often and congrats again on getting a date!
