I do customer service from home, so probably a little different that the rest of you, but I had surgery in Mexico on Friday, flew home Monday morning (about 12-14 hours door to door) and was working the following night.  Your mileage may vary - but as I was always tired in the past due to severe sleep apnea, I didn't really notice a huge difference post-op.  Normally I'm a huge baby when it comes to pain too, but either my Mexican doc has magic hands or it really wasn't that bad - for me.

He does have a rule of not lifting anything heavier than 20 lbs for the 1st month, so no working out for a while for you :)  Most docs recommend starting with walking, as much as you can and gradually building up.  As I had no desire to take my life into my hands last winter by walking outside, I didn't do much walking or exercise until the snow started to melt. No one should follow that example ;)

I DID Make It - 135.4 8-1-10!  Now working on post baby weight loss. (All WL post-op - preop got up to 220 from quitting smoking & last supper syndrome.)  5'2"

I went back to work a week after my surgery and felt fine.  However, I guess it would depend on the type of job you have.  I have an office job and was told not to do any lifting or exercise for the first 4 weeks.
