So how are you ladies doing this morning?

I am feeling extra great today! I have lost 10 pounds since the beginning of optifast ( 17 since Christmas) and I got a new haircut this morning, so who could ask for more!!! I am so happy with the 17 pounds lost, I cannot imagine how it will fell to lose 100 !!!! I am into the last box of shakes. It's more difficult at night, when kids and hubby come home and they are eating all kind of things in my face. I realize that I didn't drink enough water, it helps to lose.

And it's funny, I was talking to my hairdresser, a 6'4", very slim man, and he told me he had lost 136 pounds! by himself, no surgery. I would never have guessed. He is maintaining for 10 years. So he understands the struggle and was very supportive. I didn't want to talk too much about it, fearing that people will judge me weak, not able to lose by myself, but everyone there was very supportive and happy for me.They really understood surgery is not the easy way out...

Hope everyone is feeling great today, have a nice one!

A new haircut! You should post a pic! I finally got my photo resized so now you finally can eyeball me in all my preoperative chubby glory! It's getting tough, the taste of the shakes wasnt a problem in the beginning but now I'm getting sick of it and am ready for my jello and broth on Tuesday! I'm also getting a little tense at work snapping, etc I think maybe the nerves are getting the best of me although I'm trying to remain calm and positive. Like I had told you guys, I'm more stressed about work commitments than the surgery and as the date approaches I realize how much I'm living in the balance that week.

I'll wait for my husband to take a picture... It's kind of a big change, but it will be easier to take care of shorter hair after surgery...
You are a very cute girl... how old are you, you look very young!

I think it's a good thing to have surgery when you are young, so you won't have time to develop medical problems, or wear out your knees...

Don't stress about work, it' more important to take care of you, because if not, you won't be able to work anyways! Work will wait, and you will be more effective after!

The weekend is one day away, and after...

So, what are you eating tonight? Vanilla or chocolate?

((hugs))

Thanks Diane that's very sweet of you, I'm not as young as I look though, I'm 32 and yes very happy that I'm having the surgery before I get older. Both my mom and my aunt are overweight and have diabetes. I hope my own potential success will encourage my mom to consider surgery as well.

You know I was thinking that I should ve gotten two boxes of chocolate and 2 of vanilla just to mix it up. Derek take note, variety is the spice of it. I"m getting really really sick of the taste.

Diane did you buy the suggested Beneprotein or did you go with another protein powder? I ordered some unjury but it hasnt come in yet.

Hi Ladies! i am new to the site and have yet to post a pic cuz i can't figure out how to shrink them. Well i started Opti Fast today and almost passed out from the hunger. I am a singer and was at rehearsal all day and could not stand up anymore! A cast mate gave me a piece of bread because everyone including myself was really concerned! Ho do i deal with the passing out issue? I have another show tomorrow night and am dreading it because of the no food intake. yes i had my broccoli and cucumbers and broth and greenpeppers(only 2 cups) what can i do to stop the awful feeling that i may fall over?

Glad to see everyone is posting.  Good job gang.  Geering up to start my opti-fast.  Nice to read all the posts. Things are just moving along.  Won't be long now.  The bench will be crowded. Remember everyone Keep Your Eye On the Prize.   Best of luck to all.    Doris  QC.

Ladies,

Things sound like they are progressing nicely and I can't believe it...next week at this time you will both be "Sleeve Sisters"!!!  I'm so jealous...can't wait to join you guys...you too Derek 'cause you'll be getting sleeved before me.

BTW where are you guys getting your protein powders and which ones are you getting/trying. I've read so many things on other sights but at this point I'm just plain confused.

Do you ladies have to be in the hospital early in the day...?

Will someone post for you here or do we just need to wait patiently for some news from you after your recovery?

Ada

Hi Ada, I cannot believe it either! 4 days now for me! I am so excited! by the surgery, but also by the end of this optifast diet...I miss crunchy and salty foods...

I understand what you mean being jealous ... but you are lucky in a way, you will share our first hand experience, and if we make some mistakes in our post-op diet, etc... you will know not to do the same thing! You will be better prepared.

At this point, the best advice I found on the net  and followed was to order some Da Vinci sugar free syrup, to add to your optifast shakes. That made a difference. I could have more flavor than chocolate or vanilla.I had Kaluha, white chocolate ( delicious in vanilla shake), and butter rhum.
Those syrup are really good, you can also put them on yogourt or pudding after. You can order them at Thelowcarbgrocery.com  It's in Toronto, they deliver very fast. It's not cheap, but I found it's really worth it.

As for protein shakes, I haven't tasted any yet because I bought them after the beginning of my optifast. I've heard that Whey gourmet are very good, I foud them at GNC and bought orange creamsicle and cookies and cream! Sounds good... When you buy one, the second is half priced. I'll let you know how they taste.

I have also ordered protein "bullets" that are 3,4 oz liquid with 42g of protein . Somes say in other forums it tasted like jello. The advantage is that you can have a lot of proteins in a small quantity, that should be helpful in the first weeks. I ordered here : proteinshop.com/ids-new-whey-protein-42.html
I order a couple of other things to taste... I'll post a complete review of that after I'll taste them all!
So you can have an idea of what's really worth ordering. Hope it will help saving you money  so it's a good thing to not be the firsts to have surgeryLOL

I also bought the beneprotein that they suggested in the group meeting. This is a no-flavor protein powder that you can add to your purees, soups, etc...

The hospital is supposed to call me between 4 and 6 pm the night before surgery to tell me at what time I should be in the hospital. If I am the first patient, I need to be at the hospital at 6 am, but if I am second, I could arrive around 8.

I will try to show my husband how to post for me during my hospital stay, but he is not really computer-friendly LOL... so maybe I will have to do it myself when I'll come home, 1 or 2 days after the surgery.

Hope we will hear from Yaya, monday night after her surgery, she supposed to be home the same day, so I will have news before I go. Or maybe I don't want to know, if it's been painful, I will be more afraid LOL.

((hugs))

Diane

Diane,
You've already lost 18 pounds simply on Optifast. What the hell? Did you take before and after pictures of the OptiFast diet? I think I'm gonna do that. Only thing is, I don't know how much I weigh. I have to find a scale somewhere that does up to 500 pounds. The scale I have at home goes to 400 and I'm above that. I've found some online but they're like 250$. I'd rather keep my money.
