Thanks Brenda...I know that I will need all the support and tips when it's my turn but I will try and learn as much as I can while I am waiting patiently.

BTW It would be interesting to know what a typical day for you in food intake would be.As well what do you do for excercise?

Diane...Keep that protein going!!! I need you to be strong so when my turn comes I can do as well as you!!
I'm assuming that you will be having your surgery at Sacre Coeur...? How long between the time your"call"came in that you were given a date and the actual surgery date? Sorry I have lots of questions but I think I'm asking the right people...:)

So where's Derek hiding lately...??? Any news from him?

Have a great day ladies!

Don't worry Ada I'm still here lurking around. I was on vacation last week and wasn't really near a PC. I'm so glad you girls are still pushing through it with the Optifast. I guess the fact of knowing that surgery is only a couple of days away also helps. You girls are having surgery on the 1st and the 2nd of February, right?

Hi friends, still going strong with the shakes and the vegetables!  Glad to see you back Derek! Hope you had a great vacation! my surgery is the 2 nd and yaya the first....At that time next week, I'll be sleeved!  Yes, the fact that it's coming helps with the optifast, and not cheating, because I am afraid my liver will not be ready for surgery! The first week is really the toughest...

Ada, I received the call for the surgery on January, 4 th, so a month before my actual date.  And yep, at Sacré-Coeur. Feel free to ask all the question you have, the more inform we are, the better we we'll live this experience I think.

I feel like a kid expecting Christmas, I am counting the days...

Optifast day 8- I had posted a thread about how challenging this was and a lot of people on the VSG board said that it was the hardest part of the whole process and I totally agree with them at this point. The biggest struggle of course is social events, weekends, breakfasts, lunch with co workers, dinners over the weeked. I feel like Optifast has stolen food AND my social life for 2 weeks But I'm not complaining because Diane we WILL be sleeved by this time next week yoohoo! Listen I know the recovery is one day at a time, but just so you know since we'll be lying around for a week I'm going to be stalking you on the boards to see how you're feeling. And Brenda we're definitely going to need the loser's bench manual, for example I've been doing 3 shakes for 2 days, just timing and being busy-- I'm going to force them down though so I get all my protein.

Hey Derek was wondering where you were hiding this past week! So great to have a vacation, eventhough I'll be spending mine sip sip sipping.

Really like that we've got the Quebec forum up and running, I find it a tremendous source of support!

Both you guys are doing great...just hang in there a little longer and before you know it you'll be on the loser's bench!!

Diane---> It is such a short time between the "call" and date of surgery...wow! What goes on in the 4 weeks you are waiting. Did you see your surgeon again...had tests...etc.

Derek---> Nice to see you're still around. Hope you had a wonderful vacation. Did you go somewhere sunny...will I be jealous?

Also...I've been trying to upload a photo and it keeps giving me different messages about the size or something. I tried different ones and still no luck. Any tech savvy people who can help.

Have a wonderful day tomorrow everyone...time for nighty-night.

Thanks for the support!  Before getting my call for surgery in january, I received a call at the beginning of december from Martine Goulet, the bariatric nurse at Sacré- Coeur, to go see her, and that's when I saw her that I did my blood tests, chest  X-ray and EKG ( the same day). She scheduled me for a group reunion with the nutritionnist in january where they explained the pre-op and post-op diet, and that's it.... now my surgery is in 6 days...I cannot believe as time flies now ! Each doctor requires different tests thought so I don't know if it's the same with Dr Garneau.
Have a nice day y'all !!!

Ada,
Nothing too special for vacation. I basically relaxed all week waking up when my body told me too, doing some home renovations, we went to the Nordik Spa (Hot, Cold, Relaxation). We just spent time together me and my girlfriend. She's a nurse who works the evening shift so we don't see eachother as often as we would want so it was great to have some time for ourselves.

As funny as it may sound, I can't wait to be on Optifast. That way I will know that I'm only weeks away from surgery and I'll still be losing weight while waiting. How much does OptiFast cost and where exactly do you buy this stuff?

Hi Derek, yes when we start optifast, time begins to fly... but not the first days... Optifast comes in pouches, vanilla or chocolate, and you order them at the surgeon office. Costs 188$ for 2 weeks. It's not cheap but hey, it is supposed to be our last "diet" lol !
Bye

And tell Derek the best part Diane is when those boxes start emptying out!!!! When I recycled the first finished box of Optifast I almost cried I was so happy to see it go---- Just to let you know know Gabriella, my schedule was a little faster than Diane's. I saw Dr. Atlas October 26th, Martine called November 19th for nutritionist meeting, January 7th group meeting, 1 blood test, then got the call January 8th that my surgery was scheduled for February 1st. What a whirlwind it's been! Now I find the days are really flying by.

Oh yes, I forgot to tell that! I was also delighted when I recycle the first one... And today,  I put all the 21 pouches that remain  in the same box, so I alredy tossed 3 !!! 1box to go !!!

It's going lightning fast now!
