OT Passport question
Just to clarify, it is for Canadian to enter the USA, I don't think that it applies to US citizens to enter Canada. However, if flying then a passport is a must for Canadian to go to the USA, but if you're driving, a birth certificate and driver's license or medicare card, is fine.
Just to make sure I don't confuse anyone.

Hi:
I was just browsing the QC board (I'm from ON board) and saw your question.
As of June 1st, all Cdns entering the US by land (car/train), sea (boat) will need to have a passport or other special/endorsed documentation. This applies to US citizens returning to the US from Canada as well.
For any trips to the US by airplane, your only option will be to have a Passport.
However, if your trips to and from the States will be by land or sea only, then you have another option which is to apply for an Enhanced Driver's Licence. I know this is offered in Ontario and is valid for 5 years. I believe all the provinces have that service available. Check your Ministry of Transportation website or Google it instead.
