Hi, sorry I didn't see this until now. I am so sorry to hear that you are going through a hard time. You should not have to feel alone. I do still have access to my clinic but feel I get more support from this site and our coffee nights than I ever get/got from the clinic. I would definitely be up for another coffee night any time. I am free every evening for now, summer is quieter for us as we are not going to Hockey every night! It was nice to see you at the Coop. I check the boards ever couple of days for a quick second but was really only checking in on the NB board as the PEI site was pretty quiet for a long time. Message me any time you want to chat. Hi I have/had a lot of weight to lose so I am sure I am going to need plastic surgery. I've lost 130 and have about 120 more to go before I think I'll be ready for surgery. That will put me at 170 lbs having lost 250 lbs so I know I a going to have skin to deal with. How did you get started with the process for the plastics. Do you have any co-pay, what type of surgeries will he do? I am thinking I will need my Pannus? done, lower body/tummy area, breast reduction for skin, and arms. What have you learned along the way about plastics that you can share. Do you have to be/should you be at goal weight to get it done? do you need to prove issues with skin ie rashes, yeast, chafing? Will your doctor do more than one surgery at the same time? Any info would be appreciated.

Hi, I live in PEI. I asked my family doctor to send a referral to Dr Beausoleil at the Georges Dumont Hospital in Moncton NB- the closest Barriatric Dr to us Islanders. that was back a little over 2 years ago. It took 10 months from referral until my first consult with the surgeon and then 9 months from that for my surgery. One thing you should know is it's not enough for your doctor to send the referral you should make sure the clinic actually gets it and also make sure your doctor sends a letter to the province for approval. and the clinic actually gets that. Without the approval letter, the clinic will not call you. I had no co-morbidities , I was healthy other than the weight. In 7 months I've lost 130 lbs. It's been the best thing I've ever done for my health! Good Luck!

I am so happy for you. it seems like time stands still while waiting but once the call(s) start it flies. Yes dr gary mclean from Stratford is doing my surgery and yes @ QEH so even though im 2 hours away ill be on island and can see my family. Moncton damn near drove me nuts as my little one was only a little over a year old at the time and I had to go for 3 days!! here for you if you need support or chat. take care.

at QEH WOW! At least you will be closer to home. How did that happen? Yes I go over for my meeting with the Nut on july 22 and they said any day now to sign the papers so I am excited and cant wait to get this done!
Kim, I hope you see this. I am booked for my tummy tuck November 6 2014 @ QEH!!!!! any word for you yet?
Please don't give up I was on the list in Halifax for 12 years and had my surgery last July. The list is long but if you have health issue your wait may not be as long. In the end it is worth the wait, but please do not think this will be easy after surgery. Surgery is just a tool, and you still need to do your part. I would keep after your doctor, have him send a referral to Moncton and to Bathurst I have heard the wait times are not as long. Good luck.
Hi Kim, well I should get a call sometime in august to book me for tummy tuck in September. i'm quite nervous but shouldn't be.
