Thanks for posting. I was feeling so alone!! So are you having the lapband?
How long does it take to see Dr. Savoie? Is he in Moncton?
Let me know how you are getting along.

How are you doing? I'm glad to see another islander on here. I'm also waiting for my first appointment but my referral is with Dr. Savorie. Anyway, just wanted to say Hi, and let you know that this a good place to learn and research anything you want to know about WLS..

I``m with the Ontario Forum but check out the other province forums too. I am currently waiting for my surgery date for toronto. It has taken me a year to get this far. A friend of mine is having it done in Guelph Ontario (about 30 minutes from toronto). Wait time is only 4-6 months. The doctors name in Guelph is Dr Reed and phone is 519-763-8442. In Toronto it is called the MIS Group and you can google this to get on their site. I know this is a long way to come but if your wait time is years it might be worth it.
Hope this helps.

My name is Nancy and I have been reading posts on the NB and NS forums. I was wondering if there were any other Islanders or PFA out there doing the same?
I have been referred to Dr. Ellsmere in Halifax for VSG, and I know I am in for a long wait (based on what I have read on the other forums.
Just wanted to say hello.

Hi
I am currently on 2 lists for WLS in New Brunsick. My family doctor has recommended that I outsource surgery wait times in other provinces, the US or even Mexico. This really scares me but my BMI is around 72. If you can give me an idea of how long of a wait it is in other provinces etxc I would really appreciate it. I called Medicare in NB and they advised that they will pay for surgery in another province except Quebec but I need to find a doctor, then have my family doctor and the surgeon write a letter to the NB Medicare board to ensure payment would be made. I'm lost at where to start so I thought I know...the great groups on OH can help. I'm even considering going self pay if necessary
Thanks
Angela

Well just to update...I called the PEI out of province coordinator. She said that Bypass surgery is covered fully so is the sleeve. As for lap band they only cover about 2000 dollars which means 4500 out of pocket expense. That does not include any other expense that could occur. But the coordinator did say they are hoping to get the lapband covered to in the furture.
