Topic: Interesting band report!
A friend of mine, banded just after me (she doesn't post here), went to get a fill today. She was concerned because she was eating pretty big portions and having no trouble whatsoever with steak!
She has always had a LOT of fluid in her band...4.4 in a 4 cc band was her last adjustment. So after 18 months, she went in and they pulled out 4.4! Then added another .5, making her 4.9. Her doctor told her they have tested the 4cc band up to 20cc's and it didn't burst.
She was really encouraged that it was all in there, every drop, and she's back on her way with a snug band.

You look amazing! I know you are busy with wonderful things in your life, but glad you stopped in! Press on and know that we notice when you arent here.
Topic: RE: Big Medicine - Melina band
The daughter/sister of the docs from Big Medicine comes on the main board to remind us to watch it every week. I have stopped watching as there usually is no band stories. Its interesting that its probably pioneers like this Dr. Melina (whose band unfortunately was a bust) that may have got us to where we are today. It sounds like they didnt expound on what the Melina band was on the show and thats unfortunate and can lead to misconceptions. I am glad you got connections Vicki!~
Topic: RE: REMINDER ABOUT THE VETS BOARD
I have been trying to support the main board more lately, I see vets on their everyday. So chances are high any question asked there will get some answer from a vet.
I blame OH everytime this issue comes up. We either have this old archaic board or we would have to go to the WLS graduate forum and fight over surgery choice with rabid foaming at the mouth my-surgery-is-better-than-your-surgery-types. How can we support one another in that envoirnment?
There are also certain realities that can be discussed here that may not be 100% band positive...because we are way past that stage. I would hate to interrupt any newbies "honeymoon" period with whatever rantings may be going on.
Enter at your own risk, but please respect the vets and do not post until you are one year out or at goal.

Topic: RE: REMINDER ABOUT THE VETS BOARD
In support of Chelle and Nancy! Please, non-vets, don't be hurt or offended! We are not being exclusive or in any way elitist! Many of us vets come on to other boards to share our stories and offer advice and encouragement. But, as you will realise once you get to that one year mark, the needs of newbies are very different and a vets' board is somewhere we can relax and support each other in a way that does not apply to people recently post-op. You really are better served on other forum.
See you in a few month's time!

Good reminder, Nancy. This is a nice place to come and relax with old friends and discuss vet band issues that might worry newbies.
I look forward to those who become vets and join us!

Topic: REMINDER ABOUT THE VETS BOARD
...and I hope it comes across gently!
This board is for people you are 1 year post-op. It's not about excluding anyone, but we wanted a place where we vets can go. I've noticed a few lately who are posting here, and while we love you all, we encourage you to wait until you reach the 1 year milestone. We'll have a big party for you when you arrive!
Topic: RE: I saw my port and tubing today... no flipped port here!!
Thanks Beth... I'm glad I have gotten rid of almost 50% of my excess weight. I can't imagine how much worse it would be at this point.
And now I know I'm not just lazy. I've had SUCH a hard time getting motivated to MOVE due to the pain! Now I KNOW the band has saved me from myself. HA.

Topic: RE: I'm LATE, I'm LATE, What's to eat??
B: Starbucks hot chocolate with NF Milk and No whip (20g protein)
S: 100 cal pack of beef or turkey jerkey
L: SALAD with lettuce, carrots, onions and eggs and small amt of italian dressing
S: Peanuts
D: 1 healthy homemade enchilada, 6 oz of juice
Plenty of water
Now that I am more focused - I realize that I might need a tweak in the band, but not until I weigh what my ticket on the other forum says I weigh.
