Some folks not welcome??

Am I reading the last few posts correctly?? This venue is "only" for band "vets". If that is the case, I have news flash for you, this board is intended for people from Prince Edward Island who are looking for support and information both before and after WLS. Now I happen to know my share of islanders and I know that nary a one would be so inhospitable as to turn anyone from their door- figuratively speaking. But if only vets are welcome, that is like coming into my kitchen and telling me I can't cook! Most of you are guests here, so mind your manors and respect the intention of this board. If I have misunderstood, then I apologize.

We were just borrowing this unused forum until OH got ours up and running. There hadn't been a post here in years. Yes, the Band Vets forum is for people who are 1 year post-op.

Yes, I guess some people are not welcome. I asked to be added to new Grads Board and got three replies all saying the same thing "unapproved". For the record I am a lapband grad, I got banded June 7, 2006. But I just changed my profile to show my revision I am having on June 9th. I have not posted much the last couple years, only a few times, however, I didn't feel I had much to add to the board especially with all my problems with my band. On my surgeon's advice I am being revised to the RNY after much consideration. I only lost 20% of my excess weight and have had constant vomitting, acid reflux, congestion, etc. no matter how much was in my band. I had a complete unfill last week and all the problems have gone away. It is nice to not be suffocating with my CPAP mask now. I am not looking forward to another WLS but I do desire better health. My sleep apnea hasn't gotten much worse this past year so I really need to lose the 100+ lbs. I am carrying around on my 5'2" body. So I guess I will continue to lurk on the regular board. And no, I am not a troll or a pot stirrer. Valerie

No worries - we have all been moved to a new forum for Band veterans only. This board was not in use at the time so we kinda took it over for a while. My apologizes to all the wonderful people of Prince Edward Island.

Does sound awfully unfriendly, doesn't it Charline! My understanding is that we borrowed an unused board whilst hoping for one of our own. We have now got that so thanks to real PEI people for the loan! I don't know your situation but the logic behind this was that most of us vets go regularly on the main LB board and lots of us give advice and support to newbies and others needing help. But, quite naturally, the newer you are to being banded the more questions you have. And these days an awful lot of newbies seem to have leapt into banding without fully understanding that it is one of the hardest choices to have made -we have to WORK at weight loss. So the questions do get very repetitive. And after 2 years of seeing the same posts again and again, you just turn off! So general LB boards tend to have a larger number of newbie questions than of vets chatter. Our needs are quite simply different. We want to swap maintenance tips and our bands have become less significant in our overall lives. Hence a special vets board. We also tend to know each other better after all this time and so our posts might mean little to a newbie anyway! Kate

This board has gone unused for several years until we came here in December2007 looking for a place for us Vets .. now that a new forum has finally been opened for us ..you can have your Prince Island back .I must say I have really enjoyed my stay here and now have to take down my hammock between the two best palm trees around .. sigh... but I seriously doubt you will find much axtivity after all of us have moved over to our own place. This will be a slow move as more and more come in and slowly find out we are moving. I am glad you happen to know so many "Prince Edward Islanders" As I have only seen 1 post from an actual Prince Edward Islander in 4 years ..

Now I understand. Most Islanders post in New Brunswick or Nova Scotia in my experience. Every now and there someone will try to get the site active again. the one islander that repyed to my original post said she did like reading your posts- beats no posts!! Arianna (lovely name by the way), I think you would not have a hammock to take down, especially if you were looking for a couple of Palm Trees. We have 4-5 feet of snow at the moment. No Palms, unless you count a few Bella Palms in a parlor somewhere! Message me if you want to know where PEI is! Enjoy your new site!

Hi! I haven't checked in here in a little while and see that OH finally established a Band Vets forum. Can I come and play, pretty please with sugar on top??
