Saturday Morning....New Start

Good Morning Everyone!! So, it's Saturday morning...and we made it through a rough week. But if you're reading this post, you're still on the Island. I, for one, am so very happy that you've decided to stay. I hope we can all leave last weeks 'unpleasantness' (and I say that across the boards) behind us. Let's just reunite as a weightloss forum.....stick to our support roles regardless of how we chose to lose and reaffirm our friendships. Does anyone have any great plans for the weekend? I'm going carpet shopping as one of the first of many home renovations planned for this year. I'm going to be 'gutting' the bathroom as well....and then tackling the kitchen. Lotsa stuff going on!! HI Ann. We got bombarded with lots of snow last night. More is expected. I don't have big plans myself, just wash, grocery shopping and picking up after my daughter. She is horrible....she likes to draw and her pictures and markers are all over the kitchen table and the desk I specifically gave to her so she could sit there to work! My husband has been doing work on our house. He's a carpenter so I don't pay for labor! Woohoo!! He gutted our bathroom last summer, then just recently made a laundry room for me out of a room off the bathroom that was a catchall. Moved the washer & dryer from their location to there and is making that into a pantry & a place for my freezer since it's right off the kitchen and I don't have enough cupboard space for food storage. He made the pantry cupboards himself. He's quite talented. But now....I've got the itch for new kitchen countertops. The ones we have are white with gold flecks....I think they are about 40 years old!! I don't want new kitchen cupboards, mine are made very well and in great shape. Mom had a new kitchen put in and last summer and I can't believe the cheapness in the quality. I'll stick with what I have. Hope you enjoy shopping for carpet! We will be shoveling...at least it's good exercise. Karen

We have flood warning in effect, and I did see on the news how you in NY got hammered with snow, yuck!!! Right now, we are dry and it looks like a nice day, cloudy, but nice... I would imagine that will be over soon. Enjoy your shoveling??? :oS

lol Gold specks? I think they may be newer than mine! It's great that your husband can do the work...that's a huge part of it. I don't like having people doing work in my house...but it is what it is!! Better them than me! We've got a lot of rain heading our way.....I'll take that over the snow but I hope we don't lose power! No power means No Sump Pumps....UGH!

We are also adding to our home Hubby has added another bathroom with a huge step in shower and moved the washer and dryer in there too with nice shelves overhead and even a little linen closet also a formal dining room and another bedroom all connected with this cute little octagon shaped hall just have to finish up in the extra bedrom and put in shelves and then start cuttung a big doorway from the kidtchen into our beautiful new dining room ( made the extra bedroom for when the grandkids spend the night they are here with us now ) he is going to star treaing out the kitchen this coming week andmove the kitchen stove to the other wall .. adding more cabinets and corner lazy susan but he has to get the new cabinets all reay first .. it seems to never end he put in a sliding door in the dining room and made a nice deck overllooking the little countryside and houses below really nice breath taking view I hung flowerpots attached to the deck railings last summer one each side.. we are getting new countertops also because of the added cabinets we do have a nice counterrtop made of ceramic tile but it has to go... We really got dumped on last night it snow ed all night long and here by the Miss -ala - Tenn line it is most unsual I have not seen a vehicle go by all morning we must have gotten at least 4 inches of snow and supposed to stay cold thru today then into the 50 'stomorrow back into the 60s again this coming week I got a good blast from the past with this snow I thought it was pretty but it is icy outside this morning ...

Wow....Adrianna, your home improvements sound great! It must be beautiful. Maybe when you have a chance you can post some pics!

Hey that's a good idea!!.. tbat is if we ever get this project finished hopefully by summer!!( this summer LOL)

Good Morning Ann, I am jealous of all of your home projects. I have a million I could tackle but just done' have the energy. Both DH and I work so hard during the week that weekend are for recovering. I have some work I took home to do because my job is really heating up. I wish I could just kiss it all goodby and retire to the beach tomorrow. Other than that we don't have any plans. I just wish the weekends didn't go by so fast.

Phyllis, I totally hear you. I've got great plans...but I'm not all that energetic! It's tough to cram all of the things you want to do into a weekend when you really need some down time. I don't pile too much stress on myself....If I do it this weekend, great. If not, next weekend is another opportunity. I've put it off for 4 years....another couple of weeks wont kill me!!

Hi Ann, I love home improvement projects!!! I did all the bathroom stuff last year, now I hate the floor we picked and I had put in cement board then the thinset, then tile... it is down for a lifetime. Did I mention, I hate the floor.... We have a good size deck off our small kitchen, I would love to blow out the wall and put in a new kitchen... oh the plans I have... wish I had the cash to back it up as my husband is not a carpenter... Have fun shopping... what colors you looking at?
