Trouble eating lately...

Sunday I PB'd on my own orange chicken from the crockpot. Yesterday I had a piece of cheese omelet at ihop and spent the rest of the meal in the bathroom sliming and PBing again. Today I thought I would try a scrambled egg at home and I got the terrible stuck feeling again. Luckily I stopped before the sliming started this time. Yesterday I only had about 500 calories and not much more for Sunday. I have no problem with liquids and I have had small amounts of tuna salad with no problem. I have been filling up on only a few bites. I had a bad sore throat and cold last week but that is better. Does anyone have any idea what is going on? A person cannot live on tuna fish alone! I have an appointment to go to my pcp. in a few days.

Marcia, I would spend the next 2 days on liquids. Don't worry about calories, just keep it liquid. Soups, yogurt, protein drinks, etc. Let your stoma have a good rest. When you resume eating in a couple of days, introduce solid protein, slowly (no eggs) and see how you do. You could just be irritated from the PBing. If you're still just as tight, you might need just a bit taken out. Sorry you're feeling crummy!

Thanks Nancy, I am going to try the liquids. I didn't think I was too tight - my fill was about a month ago. You may be right about being irritated. Thanks

Marcia: At optimal restriction I wouldnt be able to eat orange chicken, omelette, or scrambled egg. My list fill kicked in about 3 weeks later and I dont even attempt certain foods. Its sure a relearning process every time. Rest that poor tummy and let us know what the doc says.

It's just funny that I never had trouble with an egg since banding. That was always one of my staple foods. I won't see my doctor until next week so I will just have to take it really easy until then. Thanks!

Marcia, Once I'm swollen (whether it's from a little cold, cough, or and incident where I get stuck) the next couple of weeks - even a month - can be very tricky unless I go to mushies/liquids for a good two or three days. I've just gotten past day two on giving myself a chance to get back on track.....and to tell you the truth, the mushies are kinda fun. They bring back memories of the early days. That and I've lost 4 pounds in those 2 days - and I really needed to see the scale start moving in the right direction (granted the Red Lobster I ate over the weekend was probably good for two of those pounds so they were easy to lose!) Good luck. - Ann

Marcia, I agree with everyone else. Take it slow, you're probably really irritated from all that PB'ing! Then, maybe you're just a tad too, tight, as, I suggested yesterday, and may need a smidgon, out! I've had fills kick in, after, 3-4 weeks! Just be careful, hon!

Eggs and chicken can be tricky at times with a band after about 6 months I could no longer tolerate a scrambed egg or even an omelet ..only way I can eat eggs now is if boiled and chopped into a salad with cheese ,tomatoes ,etc and I can also eat deviled eggs they go down well.. every now and then chicken ,especially if it has a sweet sticky coating will upset my band and up it comes ..some things I can only have a bite or two of and some things can no longer tolerate and as crazy as it sounds ...some things suddenly do not agree with us 6 months or even a year later . If we get sick or have a cold ,many things will bother us that don't normally bother us and we have to introduce them back just a bite or two at a time We sure get finicky when we have a band...just like a skinny person.I remember watching a skinny person eating, pushing food all around their plates eating a bit of this and just a bite of that and leaving most on their plate ,not in them... later if desert was served, either they refused saying they were just stuffed, or they had just a sliver and left half of it too..while I practically locked my platters clean .I would look over at their 2/3 full plates and think "How can they resist eating all that delicious food?" HaHa..Ha. but it is all for the good.. that is just that much less we now eat.. On the other hand, if you are constantly throwing up and not feeling satisfied, not able to enjoy your food in reasonable amounts during your mealtime, then you may be overfilled. this would be unacceptable for me. I want to enjoy my food and enjoy my life and feel good, be healthy and eat healthy ,most of the time ..

WOW... I'm sorry you are having this problem! I really can't offer advice from personal experience, but what the others say about resting your stoma is surely the best thing to do. I think I would do a couple days of liquids and then mushies before progressing back to solid foods. Every fill really IS a learning experience. I'm hoping yours will loosen JUST a little bit so you can get enough nourishment!

I'm with Nancy on this one. Go to liquids and let it all settle down. Forget about calories for the moment. So sorry you are having problems!
