So, I saw my internist
Alyssa, you are not a downer at all..I simply adore you and can't wait for the day you get some relief. It has been an awful year for you, you need some relief. Please know your good friends on here, we want you to come and vent to us. We are here for you..we want to listen and offer words of encouragement.
So vent away via the forum or email me, I will always be here for you.
Christine
My daughter Heather takes Lyrica for her diabetic neurapathy. She has no problems with it at all - not a single side effect. I helps her and I hope it will help you. She took neurontin for a short time and it didn't help and she couldn't tolerate it either. I think that it might have taken a week or two for the lyrica to really help. It makes a huge difference for her.
I hate that we can't edit our posts...
I am sure that the hernia, reflux, bladder problems etc. would make anyone depressed. When they fix the hernia and your band is working again many of those problems will go away. We're here for you whenever you need us! We love you!
P.S. I know that you will take off all of the weight as soon as you are back to eating solid protein. It will make all the difference in the world.
You are not a "downer" sweetie. You are a friend in pain (emotional and physical) and we're here to help as much as we can by just listening and offering support.
Please do not apologize for telling us what is going on or even just crying on our virtual shoulders.
I'll keep you in my prayers, Alyssa.
With friendship and love,
Carole
I'm so glad they're doing more looking! When you said how much you gained and how fast, I think all of us knew that it couldn't possibly be just because of what you're eating. It's good to hear that your doctors are really taking the time to try to figure things out. Too often doctors blame everything that happens to us on our weight and our eating; my mom is really struggling with doctors like this. I hope you get answers soon!
Alyssa, you are never a bother! You have been through so much it's no wonder you feel the way you do. One day of not being myself gets me down, I can't imagine an entire year of what you've been through.
Maybe an Endo doc will help. I know that my PCP said my levels were ok, but when I was still exhausted and irritable I decided to see my Endo doc again and he said I was indeed, NOT fine. My levels were too high. So the standards PCP's go by isn't always right. He adjusted my meds and I went hyperthyroid, now the meds have decreased and I have to go back.
I hope you get your answers soon, you deserve it!

10 pounds just this week -- something's not right. I don't know if you've seen an endrocrinologist before, but when I was diagnosed by my internist with hpothyroid, I researched it and discovered that the American College of Endocrinologists had changed the standards for a healthy TSH level and my internist didn't know that. they've determined that people with hypothyroidism lose best with levels between 1 and 2, whereas the previous standard was in the region of 4 or 4.4 (I don't remember.) It's just not fair for you to have to go through this, but I guess we know that life's not fair. I'm sure that when you become a physician you'll have a lot of empathy for your patients. Take care of yourself and please accept this official hug.
