Can gallbladder issues feel this way?

I think there are several ways that it presents itself, but I'm not sure. In the middle of the night I woke to stabbing pains in my right side at my ribcage. It was so bad that any time I tried to move it would flare up. I felt like an invalide unable to move! I laid there for some time putting pressure on the area as it seemed to help. Eventually it went away but I'm sore in that spot now this morning. I'm thinking that maybe it also might have been a muscle spasm, but there?! It was right where your ribs end almost vertical to your armpit. If it continues of course I'll see my doctor but what do you guys think? Karen

My friend described her gallbladder attacks that way. She had one so bad while walking through the mall she fell to ground and almost passed out from the pain. Call the doctor! Good luck and let us know...

Thanks Danielle. It took my breath away...that's for sure! That's awful about your friend. I couldn't imagine having this pain out in public! I know that I've had the quick stabbing pains before at work that catch me by surprise but this was much worse. I think I'll give him a call tomorrow.

sounds like GB. what did you eat for dinner last night? I had mine out in November - really a piece of cake - I tried really hard to keep mine but in the end I am so relieved it is gone!

Thanks Mary. I was on liquids all day due to a PB friday night. But I did have split pea soup and later I had some ice cream....if its the GB...the ice cream would have done me in. We'll see...I'll keep you posted.

When a stone gets caught in the duct it can radiate pain bad enough to want to faint, I had pain up behind the right shoulder blade along with pain under the rib. A quick ultrasound will let you know. Removal is a breezy day surgery, the worse part for me was that wonderful gas trapped across my back. But I didn't think to use a heating pad back then. I had a bad of tiny stones, lots of them, small enough to move, large enough to get stuck...{hugs}

Hey Karen! You should see the doctor and describe the pain. Yeah, a muscle spasm or cramp could cause pain and have lingering soreness the next morning. If you eat something fatty and have the pain again, then you can pretty much point to the GB. Sorry to hear about your pain!

Hi Karen, I had the same pain and it was my gallbladder. I felt great once I got it out. Good luck. Mona
