Really bad day...
Beth, I feel for you! First of all, as Vicki says, akthough we are nearly all people who have always turned to food in times of stress, nowadays, it might make you feel worse! Not only becasue of a feeling that you have let yourself down but also I find that if I get carried away nowadays, I end up feeling really unwell for ages.
BUT if you have already eaten too much - DO NOT FEEL GUILTY This is just one day out of your journey and getting stressed about this will only add to your other stress.
Now your other stress I really can understand! I teach 14-16 year olds in a Special School for children with behavioural and learning difficulties so i know exactly how difficult these children can be. We get exactly the behaviours you describe, but (and it is a very big but!) we have classes of about 8 children, trained support assistants and strong support from the senior management team. Because of our cir****tances, we can work with the children and in many cases we can modify the worst of their behaviours. But when they come to us from mainstream schools, I can never contemplate the havoc they must have wreaked in a "normal" class. I agree that it is so unfair on the teachers and the other children.
So my heart goes out to you! I hope that someone in your school in the management takes this seriously and gets the child the help he needs.
Kate
I wish I could say something to lessen your stress and make it better! The only thing that comes to mind is ....I could never be a teacher! But I suppose that doesnt help you at all. I hope someone who can truly help you in this situation wisens up and helps out. But until then ...deep breaths and try not to fight your band. Stress makes me a mess too. My band will slam shut...then its off to find the ice cream. Try to leave work at work...refuse to dwell on it this weekend. Call me if you are around...Lord knows I am not doing anything but studying and laundry...lol.

Beth I am so terribly sorry you are feeling so down, that is truely sad to hear. It's a slippery slope, and honestly, that food is not your friend, it is a back stabber only there to steel even more of your joy. Find a hobby, something that is special and unique to you that will validate you, because food never, ever will. Try some Mylanta for your reflux and some breathing excercises too. In for 10, out for 10.
Beth,
I'm sorry you had such a bad day. Is there no way once a pattern is set that your school requires pyschological counseling? I taught the year from hell in a class of kids with diagnosed mental illness..never again! The days when they didn't have their meds or they were making adjustments were so emotionally and mentally taxing I couldn't handle it.
I am amazed at teachers--take a deep breath and relax honey!
Honey, I'm SO sorry you have to go this mess, with this boy! Unreal! Has ANYONE spoken to his parents? Your Principal, and Vice-principal, should back you up with this! The parents, are the ones, you need to go through. My DIL, is a high school teacher, and, I tell you, the stuff she tells us, would curl anyone's hair! Hope it gets better, soon, sweetie!
