Well I am happy and sad for you. It was with my original surgeon and he submitted a letter explaining my condition and reason for band removal and gain and suggestion for revision for RNY. It's all no, no and no I can't tell you how remarkably well I felt when the band was removed, I had it removed at 5 pm, and my surgeon said I could go home if I wanted to, but I was afraid I might swell up so I stayed... I left at 8:30 am next day and felt so much relief immediately, no choking, drowning... just really well. But I ate from there with purpose, not to gain, but to give myself all the stuff I thought I deserved for being tortured...LOL. dumb move. I'm lucky that my bone structure is large, my surgeon didn't believe me when I said I weighed 195 going into removal, he made me hop on the scale in front of him, he thought I was less. But I didn't gain 60lbs worth of bone...LOL, and I'm sure not much is muscle either...*drat*. I wish you the very best Rose, you deserve it.

Deb, I'm glad that you're so healthy. That is good news! I came to the realization after being banded 3 years and saying I was NEVER going to diet again, that I need to diet to lose weight. If left to what I CAN eat, I won't lose the rest of this. My weight fell off pretty quickly the first year, but then I stalled, and even started to gain. I have no desire to make my band so tight that I end up with problems, so I'm leaving it like it is for now. So, we recently joined WW. Hubby is doing better than me. He is easily working the program (as long as I buy all the stuff and have it here for him). He's down 20 and I'm down 10. Your husband would probably follow it with you if he's like most men. There is truly nothing you can't eat, you just can't have it all in one day. The points system is pretty easy to follow whether you're cooking at home or eating out. We've made some changes like light mayo, light or FF cheese, sour cream, margarine, salad dressing. It all adds up. He had a day a while back, where he said he had to have McDonalds. So he did, and he just adjusted the rest of his day to count for it. It really hasn't been too hard. This has forced him to read labels and be accountable. He writes everything down in his journal, and I use the computer WW program for mine. And yes, the exercise will certainly help. That is an area I really need some motivation in. I just can't seem to get to it regularly. Sorry this was so long! I broke my own rule!

thanks so much Nancy. I will check into WW for real this time. I have been putting it all off thinking if I lose any of this I definately wouldn't qualify for a surgery. I've just come to the conclusion that if I don't start taking better care of myself...well heck... no one else will. Who knows, maybe I'll actually like it. Many of my church friends, townie friends... they all go there, it would be nice to have something just for me. If I got 20 lbs off it would be great. And another thing. Nancy, after losing so much and people would say "I hope you aren't going to lose anymore" and me responding with 25 more... You would have so much more respect for where you are at now If you had a dramatic gain... I can't tell you how happy I would be to be back down to 200, even 220!!! You are fantastic just the way you are, you are beautiful and obviously happy... If you lose anymore now, well that is a bonus. Just remember, you aren't the person you started with, that is more than good, it's excellent!!!

You know, I actually enjoy the meetings. I pick up a tip or two every time I go. People share what little tricks they have learned. One lady talked a local Mexican restaurant into making a 2 point Margarita. She brings in her own packet of Crystal light and he makes it for her! I keep my band my little secret, and they think I'm just there like the others, trying to lose a smaller amount of weight. However, there are some that are down 50-100 pounds, that have done it all on WW. I need the weigh in to keep me accountable. Let me know if you do it. I'll support you all the way Deb!

Aw Deb, I am glad you are healthy, that is the important thing. I am hoping you can get with and stay with a program to help with the weight loss. I know you are a good cook and sometimes what helps me is to put that creative energy into making delicious healthy meals. I think sometimes we just have to cold turkey some things. I offer you my encouragement, but I need it just as bad. We just have to keep working on ourselves and never give up. Best of luck and in the end it may be for the best that you are not getting the RNY.

I'm sorry to hear that surgery can't happen for you, but it sounds like you have accepted your smaller size and know what you need to do (exercise more). Don't be a stranger and let us know how the progress is going!
