Band Vets- can I ask a question?

I am not a year out and not at goal (yet) but I need your answer to a quick question. I apologize now for invading your island, but this is not a noobie question. First: I am down 83 lbs and as of today I have 18 lbs to lose until a normal BMI So... When you got close to goal did you find that you were less concerned about losing every last ounce of weight? Or did you push hard to get to the 'end' ? Is one reaction more common than the other? I just find that the closer I get to the 'arbitrary line in the sand' the less worried I am about getting there or not getting there. I am still eating mostly right and the weight is still dropping but I just wonder if anyone else had hit the point that they felt NORMAL and no longer needed the scale to prove their normalacy? Does that even make sense? Thanks for any answers. Happy Valentines Day! Sheli

You have lost an amazing amount of weight in a short time. For me, it has always been about being normal, and not hitting an arbitrary number. I will meet the normal BMI goal weight at some point, just not in a hurry now. So yeah, you make perfect sense! Chelle (pronounced the same as yours, I suspect!)

Thanks Chelle (are you pronounced Shelly too?) I feel normal now. I am normal now. I have been so GOAL oriented that all I could see for the longest time was the number on the scale. I think it just turned out that 'normal' is a feeling and not a weight. Well, Maybe it's a pants size..I am in 12/14 pants and 14 shirts...that feels normal! I also am not changing my 'goal' but I am just going to let it happen now and get off the 'diet' and back to regular bandster eating. ( I seriously dieted hard since surgery, I am now going to eat right, protein first! but no more hard dieting!) Thanks! Sheli

Sheli, when you have reached a certain point, and lost a lot, like you, and are in a great size, those last few pounds, don't mean NEAR as much as what you've lost! That's just natural, you feel so much better, and look, so much better! As for the last few pounds, relax, and do as you've been doing, and it WILL come off, eventually. This is not a race, it's actually based on a 5 year program, and look how great you've done, in such a short time! I reached a point where, I didn't care if I lost anymore, but then, actually went below, my goal, and was told to gain a little back, by my doctor! ha

Hi Sheli, I agree with the others. I did the same thing. You have done awesome with your weight loss. Keep up the good work. Mona

The smaller I get the less I worry about the odd pound! In the overall scheme of things, a pound or so doesn't matter - it did when I had 100 to lose! But not now! Kate
