I am VERY happy for you. I know you were looking at a different weight loss surgery but you never really sounded like you were completely sold on it. You will be successful with this. You are smart and determined and I think a little stubborn! (in a good way). Good for you for hangin in there!!!!

Yes, I am stubborn and I didn't want to give up on my band. I knew it worked for me and I was scared to do something irreversible. I just couldn't believe that my band was hurting me and I knew that with the weight gain and the problems I had... something needed to be done. I would have been fine with the sleeve, but I really wanted my band to work for me. I am so glad to have a dx. I am scared they wont' see the hernia or something in surgery, but this expert is absolutely certain of the dx!

That's fabulous Alyssa!!!! I don't have the hiatal hernia, but I had a "moving" slipped band before. The band broke lose and was moving up and down. Even though this was a long time ago, I remember it so well! I had much the same experience. The upper GI, with the doc saying, "hmmmm, looks okay. Drink more, drink more, drink...." until all of a sudden - the band started moving. I too was having problems with good, substantive foods. So, guess what I reverted to? Chips, dips, popcorn...all the mushy foods that go through. I'm telling you this only to let you know that you can recover from this and get back on the "good food" track. I know, because after my band was repositioned, I did it. Good luck and I will keep you in my thoughts. Vicki

I'm glad to hear that you were able to get back on track after your repair! I am hoping that I can too! It's funny, this band expert asked about my symptoms and then said, "let me guess, you like to eat Doritos?". I almost laughed out loud because I though, "how did he know what I had for lunch?!?!?" He said that Doritos, Fritos, ice cream, and cookies are the common diet staples for someone with a complication. So... I am so excited to get back on track! I will surely be using the board for support. I have a feeling that sugar withdrawal will be hard on me. I will need you guys!!!

I'm not a real big sweets person so the cookies and ice cream weren't an issue for me. But I sure did want to continue eating as many chips as I had before. Which of course, is a real big NO-NO!!!! Isn't it funny how we have our different "I want to eat the whole thing...." foods? We will be here for you every step of the way. Good luck!

Alyssa, that is so fantastic!!!!!!!! I hope and pray that this is the cure you have been searching for all this time and that you will finally have relief. How soon do they propose to do the repair? You mentioned next week....???? That would be extraordinary. Anita

Well, you know, I asked my surgeon to do the repair as soon as humanly possible! He chuckled and said he will! I said, "Ok, how about Monday!". His response was that he could do it but he wants to make sure that the expert can be there. He can do the repair on his own, but since I am "his girl", he wants to make sure that everything goes perfectly and since this expert has done these repairs before, my surgeon wants him there. What a modest surgeon. He is not arrogent in any way and wants the best for me! So... if he can't do it Monday or Tuesday... it will likely be the week after! I am so relieved!
