Fishy!! I have heard (believeable, from reputable sources) of incompetent docs placing the band too high and going round the oesophagus rather than the stomach. But missing the stomach altogether!!!!???? I reckon even I could tell which was stomoch and which was other tissue!!
And just pressing on the vagus nerve would NOT be satisfactory! You wold not get any restriction - jsut feel permanently full.

I think it is somewhat possible, but I think her explanation is garbled or she didn't understand what her doc said. It sounds like, in addition to being placed around the stomach, it is also placed around some fatty tissue that was close to the stomach. I kind of wonder if the pt herself added the word "wrong" to it. Perhaps she got an explanation along the lines of "Here's what we did - this isn't how it is usually done, but I think it is just fine" and then she converted it to "It's been done wrong."
